PATHWAYS TO LIFETIME PLATINUM PREMIER ELITE STATUS:

1. Legacy Marriott Lifetime Platinum - 750 [MR+SPG] nights & 2MM Marriott Rewards points earned - not available after 1/1/2019
2. New Combined Program - 750 [MR+SPG] nights & 10 years combined/total as Platinum members previously under MR and/or SPG as of 12/31/2018 - not available after 1/1/2019

From members.marriott.com:

NOTE: Members that reach 750 nights and 10 years at Platinum by December 31, 2018 will be grandfathered into Lifetime Platinum Premier Elite status (notified January 2019).

FAQ from members.marriott.com

Q: CAN I EARN LIFETIME STATUS UNDER THE LEGACY REQUIREMENTS (ACTIVE PRIOR TO AUGUST 2018) FOR LIFETIME ELITE STATUS IN MARRIOTT REWARDS, RITZ-CARLTON REWARDS OR SPG? IF SO, WHEN WILL I BE NOTIFIED OF MY LIFETIME ELITE STATUS?

A: Yes, in addition to earning based on the new criteria, members can earn Lifetime Elite Status under the legacy requirements through the end of 2018. If Lifetime status is achieved by legacy requirements, between August and December 31, 2018 you will receive notice of your updated Lifetime Elite status in January 2019. If Lifetime status is achieved based on the new criteria, you will be notified both in August 2018 as well as any time it is achieved through the end of the year.

Example: An SPG member has 300 Lifetime nights, 4 years of Gold Elite Status, and 1 year of Platinum Elite Status after August, 2018. Under the SPG legacy Lifetime requirements, this member would earn Lifetime Gold Elite status which would reflect in their account January 2019.

Q: IF I WILL NOT BE GRANDFATHERED INTO LIFETIME PLATINUM PREMIER ELITE, WILL I HAVE THE ABILITY TO EARN INTO THIS LEVEL IN 2018?

A: Yes, members can earn Lifetime Platinum Premier Elite in 2018 if they achieve 750 Lifetime nights and 10 years at Platinum Elite status. This requirement is only for 2018 and will not be continued in future years. Members will receive notice of this Lifetime achievement in January 2019.

It won't be January 1, 2019, regardless. Marriott waits until mid-January or thereabouts to make sure all stays from the previous calendar year post first. That is probably why all official materials say January, 2019, without giving a specific date.

I hope they also make sure to credit all tenor years that been achieved during 2018 after Aug 18 2018..
I am at 9Y P but have renewed P (and PP) at legacy SPG brands post 18 Aug and combination of accounts. However no additional years have yet to post and I am sure I have read somewhere that 2018 tenor years achieved post 18 Aug will post in Jan. Now if that really going to happen is probably a coin toss,

Have you combined accounts? If I have 9 SPG Platinum years with my SPG account, and 75 nights this year with my Marriott account (legacy Marriott properties only), which account do I merge? I ask only b/c my Marriott account shows 0 lifetime years, despite that I'm Platinum Premier this year.

Did anyone claim it would?

Considering that you have until 12/31/18 to meet the criteria, I think it's completely unreasonable to expect that all stays have posted, all calculations have been completed, audits performed, validation, and publication of new status in less that 24 hours.

In fact, given stay posting times from overseas, it's impossible.

LTPP will be whenever it will be. It’s been promised for Jan 2019. Whenever that may be, it also will be better than what was true in Marriott Rewards. And a little better than what was true even in SPG. So everyone may want to gather some perspective.

If LTPP status does reflect for me on Jan 1 or even anytime in Jan 2019, I’ll be the first person reminding those who’ve done nothing but complain about something that hasn’t yet even had the chance to transpire.

I have merged my accounts since 19 Aug. Probably you will get your additional year in Jan if your lucky.

Like in all forecast we condition on the latest information to obtain the best forecast on future states... Yes I assume the world is
Markovian... Given that I cannot be so positive .. I would love to be proven wrong though ...

FYI, you don't have to be SPG LTP to get MPT LTPP status. In my case I was LTG in both programs less than 10 nights away from LTP in both programs. Now with my accounts combined, I have 1234 LT nights, 25 years as Platinum, and over 2M MR points. Fully expect to make MPG LTPP sometime in January as well.

Will there be hiccups, of course.

IMO the question is whether this will happen by January 31st.

I wish people would stop with the LTP stuff. It's 750/10 combined. Nothing else matters.

AFAIK folks can still make LTPP under the legacy MR requirement of 750 lifetime MR nights and two million MR points. I don't think these requirements needed to be completed by August 18th to count as legacy MR LTP to become new Starriott LTPP automatically.

There are so many corner cases it's tough to keep up with all of them, and you are missing a few::
750 MR LT nights AND 2M MR points (otherwise known as MR LTP equivalence)
750 combined LT nights and 10 years Platinum status
750 combined LT nights and 2M MR points

Yes, there are some that think their SPG LTP will get bumped to LTPP, but I wouldn't expect that. I think from the beginning they should have done away with trying to equate all these matches with the legacy scheme. MR Gold here, SPG Plat there... Just say if you have more than 50 nights this year you will be Plat, if you have more than 75 nights then PP. Way too confusing the way they did it, but was that their goal? Distract us from the IT issues?

Personally I wish Starriot had stuck with their initial announcement: LTPP for MR LTP. It was a simple rule and would have avoided all fo the mess with everyone arguing for his/her particular "corner" (really special exception) case.

If a SPG LTP had wanted a lifetime status at 75 nights, he/she should have picked a different program.

Harsh, but I've had no sympathy ever since the "if SPG LTPs can't get LTPP status, no one should" thread was started.
