As per https://www.starwoodhotels.com/tribu...language=en_US :

The SLS Las Vegas, a Tribute Portfolio Resort will be leaving Marriott on August 17, 2018. Reservations for dates on or after August 17, 2018, will not be eligible for Starwood Preferred Guest membership benefits, award redemption or accrual.

SLS Las Vegas joined SPG in December 2015, having previously being a Hilton Curio (see this thread in the FT Hilton forum.)

Pre-opening discussion is here.

Opening promotion : Celebrate SLS Las Vegas. Register & pick your card to reveal your offer.

The 289-room LUX Tower, one of the three towers onsite, will undergo a conversion and renovation and reopen as W Las Vegas in September 2016. The W will have its own dedicated entrance, lobby, meeting space, pool and facilities and will be managed by Starwood while the remainder of the SLS will remain under its current management. Discussion here.

Shuttle from the LAS Airport stops at 8PM, and is not free for guests to take as of April 1st, 2016. Call property for updates and more info as they don't have it posted on their website.

Darn, NO tubs? 3 towers and NO tubs?

Thanks for the info everyone. I'm already worried now that I'm hearing that Forum rooms at Caesars don't have bath tubs, either. I can't use hot tubs because I have RSD, a nerve disease, in my left foot and leg. Hot water is too much on it so I take warm baths 3 times a day. I could've sworn I saw a picture of a bathroom at SLS with a tub in the background. Maybe it was something else? So strange for such a normal thing to be missing. I can live 2 days, I guess, with just a shower. I booked Storybook Tower for 2 nights, but as a Lifetime Plat, hope for an upgrade.

I can get all my Vegas-type stuff done at Caesars and hopefully, just chill by the pool at SLS. I need to recommend it as a possible convention location (or not) but I think that'll be difficult as there are 3 separate towers. I have another day or 2 to think about it, though. I can always cancel and book elsewhere if I have to. But it does look interesting. I'm happy to hear it has a casino. I am a blackjack fiend and haven't played much this year. Then again, if Caesar's wipes me out, a pool is nice, too.

Just to clarify...the outdoor pool area at Caesars has no hot tubs.

The Forum tower rooms at Caesars are shower only.

I have stayed in Augustus Tower and Palace Tower rooms at Caesars which both have bigger tubs (I think the one we had in Augustus was jetted).

I have never stayed in Roman, Octavius, or Nobu Towers so don't know whether they have tubs or not.

At the SLS, the Story tower room we had was shower only. Another tower (lux?) might have a tub, someone else can say, but you said you booked the Story Tower. You might get upgraded or you might not. We didn't.

I know it's affiliated with Marriott, but some rooms at the Cosmopolitan have Japanese soaking tubs - very relaxing!

The Lux tower rooms do NOT have tubs. I've stayed in every standard room / "suite" in the Lux tower (not two-room suites, just the larger rooms they dub as suites). But that's the highest they go for platinum members at the moment (at least, until the use of "suite" is clarified.

Just a side note, the best tub I've used in Vegas was the Bellagio suite. It was incredible. The MGM Signature is actually a close second, but the beds aren't that great.

Also, when you say convention hotel, if you mean good for access to the convention center, then it's hard to beat with the monorail only 2 stops away, and the SLS's monorail is probably the shortest room-to-monorail distance.

Well, I'm on standby for an upgrade at Caesars in the Augustus Tower for the 1st 2 days. If that comes through, I have a jacuzzi tub in my room. If not, I'm sure they can work something out. I have that VIP card for Caesars properties in Vegas, maybe that will help me get a tub. As for SLS, I'm unsure. While I hold a higher status there (Lifetime Plat) I don't see any upgrades as of yet, though that doesn't mean a thing yet.

I'm trying to find a hotel in Vegas that I like AND that is convenient to the Convention Center, which this is. I have 4 more trips this year alone, so I'm hoping to like this new place. I'm giving it a try, hoping that being further from the action might pay off in a better room. There must be something to it, as the prices are about the same as Caesars but without all the bells and whistles. I look forward to exploring!

which tower is is your favorite?

PS- I'm dying to know which tower people prefer, and why. I just looked at photos and think I booked myself in the wrong tower. I chose Story Tower, thinking that the sweet pictures that look as if they came from the pages of a fairy tale were from Story Tower. Then I see that is NOT what Story Tower is at ALL, and the type of furnishings I like LEAST are in Story Tower.

I have 1 day to change my reservation, so I'd love to hear all about the 3 towers. Which is quietest, which is nicest, which gives you best shot at a Plat upgrade, etc. Looking at the photos, I think I should've chosen Lux Tower. That said, I don't know what the World Tower is supposed to be like, or which one is best for me. Spacious, quiet, cool to the point of cold, and a nice bed and bath are what make my stays great. I'm not into hip, chic furniture with no comfort, and views are nice, but the least of my worries. I spend a lot of time in my room and never leave drapes open. I will be changing the reservation tomorrow to another type if available, but I would love to hear what towers are considered nicer or better, etc. If you've stayed, I'd love any info. Thanks!

Have you read through this entire thread? Many of us have described our stays in detail. My Story Tower stay is on page 6, post #87. I think you would not like it at all based on what you've said.

I also don't think there are 3 available towers anymore - one is being converted to the W, and is under renovation. Not sure which it is.

The LUX tower (289 rooms) is the one being converted to W. Room count at SLS itself will be reduced from 1600 to 1300.

Also, a recent article on SLS management and plans:

Yes, I've read most of the posts. And no, I would NOT like Story Tower. I still had not heard much about World Tower. I'm thinking that might be the way to go as Lux Tower is under construction.

I've personally had 4 stays in the Lux Tower and never noticed any construction noise. I'm sure it varies on what floor you're on and the room's position.

Thaliajen, just spend one night at SLS and see for yourself. The Story Tower was not our taste but it was fun for one night. The restaurants are really nice at the SLS (at least the one we went to). Caesars is great (we'll be there again next week, requested Palace Tower because it's closest to the pool) but I would spend another night at the SLS if the price was right (it was not for us for this trip).

Here is a good review of CP Palace Tower rooms:

Hey thanks Non-NonRev, hadn't seen that blog before. So was it my Augustus Tower room tub that did NOT have jets? I don't use the tubs anyway but I might have had those reversed. I like the Palace Tower in warm weather because of the pool and like the Forum Tower when it is not pool weather. Our one time in the AT had a great view of the fountains but we could hear sirens all night. I usually ask for rooms facing towards nowhere for the quiet.

Also staying for the first time at New York New York in August when we go to see Streisand (walking distance to T-Mobile arena) so was interesting to read that - not expecting much, but want the convenience.

Eujeanie- I'm going back in August for Streisand too! I haven't decided where I'm staying yet, as rates go up and down a million times by August. But My CP room is only for 2 nights. The Friday was ridiculously expensive so I decided to cut the trip down the middle as I have to stay one night at SLS anyway. They're not offering World Tower rooms at SLS for my dates, but I can change up until tomorrow to get a Lux Tower room. A bit more money, but it sounds as if I'd like it better. The price difference between spending 2 nights at SLS or just the Friday was minimal. You know weekend rates in Vegas- always a pain. I'm hoping they impress me as I need to honestly recommend this to a bunch of SPG members who have been preferring TR properties to the Westin there. They want their points AND upgrades. I don't blame them. Hopefully, SLS will be a nice surprise.

Curious why you "have to" stay one night at SLS (not that it's a bad thing)?
