Mlife platinum benefits you mention are ok, but won't do anything as far as getting room upgrade, which I think is what the op's priority may be.

The only real advantage at SLS is breakfast for Plat + 1.

I think all references to the airport-hotel shuttle have now been removed from SPG.com.. Can anybody clarify if this shuttle service has been completely removed- or still available at the recently reported $7? At $30 one way for a cab fare this would be an important consideration when determining where to stay in Vegas..

You can still take a conventional shared shuttle to that area if a cab is too dear for you.

I just checked out of this hotel.
No complimentary shuttle. They said they removed it a long time ago from tge website and informed all guests that it is no longer offered. It was on the web site when I booked my rooms and I received NO notice!
Upon checking in I was told NO upgrades available, had to point put thry were still selling suites... FD had to "check" with manager whether or not they could upgrade Platinums?!?!?
Over all I was not happy, I will not return. Had issues with one room smelling bad, no service recovery on that.
The now not complimentary shuttle had us waiting for 45minutes when it was supposed to run every thirty minutes... Finally I just ordered a cab as my kids were getting anxious!!
Most of the staff seemed to be lost about the services at the hotel.
The room was great but over all left a sour taste. Obviously YMMV

I can certainly understand the frustration when people are being led to believe there's a shuttle (on SPG.com, as well as in this thread). At the same time, as someone living in Vegas, I was more surprised to find out a free airport shuttle was ever offered by the property than I was to find out it is no longer available.
Airport hotels (think Hampton Inns and the like near the airport) and some off-Strip resorts (such as Red Rock, or a vacation club property on the Strip periphery) offer airport shuttles, but I don't think I've met a single person in my 5 years here who's taken one provided by a Strip resort. I feel like I'd be hunting bigfoot were I to head down to The Strip or airport to try and spot one.
Granted, SLS is at the north end of The Strip and so about as far from McCarran as you can go (while still being "on The Strip"), so I can see why they might have chosen to offer one at some point in order to attract people skeptical of the distance. What a fascinating thing to discover, though!

Several years ago the Venetian offered a shuttle - but it was not free. The advantage was that you didn't have to make several stops, but rather go straight from the airport to V/P. But they, too, stopped that.

Well they did say no one used it BUT there were ALOT of people waiting for it
What I do not get is the property is NOT in a good location and thus in a disadvantage so I would argue that this property should be upping its game not short changing customers or nickel and diming...
Just my 2 cents in there. I usually do not return to properties that try to play games and I also tend to tell others how my experience was...
Of the two issues I had both were esaily fixable on site with managment but neither was. Managment was apologetic and they did not deny I had a screen shot showing that they still advertisednit a few days ago even though they claimed it stopped in march! Just bad in my opinion...
Obviously other will like, or other will consider a airport shuttle a non issue.

Woah. So, I'm quite surprised to read these comments about the shuttle.... I just stayed at the property for one night, end of March. Literally checked out last week and used the complimentary shuttle from the hotel to the airport. Tipped the driver $5, but it was easy as that. Again, less than 10 days ago they had a sign by the door leading outside that mentioned the times the complimentary shuttle stopped at Miracle Mile / Airport..... So I'm confused.. Has it really changed within the last 10 days...? That was one of the better value props for this property.

I suppose I'll add some thoughts to this post as I've now stayed 3 times at this property this year.
So far, I've been upgraded every time without asking to a suite in the LUX tower, given my breakfast voucher, and then my 2 drink vouchers as a platinum alternative ammenity to make up for the resort fee. Check-in has always been prompt and courteous.
Service has been great. Had an issue on the first stay of there being no record of my BRG rate, but that was fixed fairly promptly.
Overall, the property itself is great, and will get even better once the W is finished. The beds in the LUX tower were great, great toiletry amenities and already stocked items like toothbrush, shaving kit, etc.
I get that people aren't too keen on the location, but with the monorail station right there, you can get to most places with a quick ride and a quick walk. Better than most "off-strip" properties.
