For a warm pool which OWV are ideal (reference to the map above would be great, I have just booked regular not sunset at this point)?
What are you giving up for a warm pool?
Cheers!

Can someone please re-confirm this - trying to follow the thread but seems like some differing opinions???

Regular overwater are on the 501-516 side and 522-528 (minus the st regis suites as marked w/ colour). Sunset overwater are the ones on 530-544. So if you booked regular overwater you get the choiced of significant privacy (522-528) and chilly pool vs warmer pool and the comparative less privacy of 501-516. Not that it's bad - the walls block out neighbors pretty well but draw a line straight out and you'll see people can probably see if you're running around naked from the shore from 509 up to 516.
Sunset overwater are a nice combination of v good privacy (except maybe the first two, 543-544 which seem to lose privacy by virtue of the Whale Bar. But you're not entitled to sunset unless you book it, so you can't really demand that.
The #519 St Regis Suite is probably the single best room overwater after the JJ Astor suite for position/privacy/sun.

To be entirely fair, though, I was in the first sunset one (544) and a) the Whale Bar is too far for it too matter (I mean, I didn't walk around naked, but I didn't feel like I was being observed by people anyway), b) the plus is that you see both the actual sunset and the "back side" of the sunset - basically, the entire resort being lit up by the rays of the dying sun. You will not see this from the other villas, because your left wall will block it. It can be quite spectacular in itself.
So in all fairness, just about any sunset villa is great I'd say, something I can't say for the villas on the inside of the curve because there, you really do see your neighbours.

To clarify, are you saying SR MLE Lounge stays open until last flight out of MLE that night? I'm aware the last seaplane out of the resort is about 16:30, but was curious about the lounge once in MLE.
I'm on CX flight at 23:05, so like you, we're going to have lots of time "to kill."
I look forward to reading your review. (The one on breakfast was nuts!)

We were on the Singapore Air flight that left Male around that time. Even if you're the only people, they'll keep the Great Room open until it's time for you to head over to the airport (~2hrs before departure)...we killed about 4 hours there. Liverpool happened to be playing though so the time flew by. When it's time to go they'll drive you over to the airport and escort you to check-in and all that good stuff. You'll more than likely get a pass to the lounge in the airport which - although a major step down from the resort - is still quite a bit more comfortable than the chaos of the terminal.
My wife and I are big beach people so we decided to book a jungle villa with the hopes of being bumped to a beach villa and the plan worked! We were in #310 which I believe is the 6th villa away from the edge of the boardwalk that leads to the overwater bungalows (i.e. 6th villa away from the Alba / Infinity pool area). The first several villas are having a little bit of an erosion problem so there's limited beach to lay out on, but beginning with 310 there's plenty of sand. I think we got really lucky in that regard. The 'common beach' always had plenty of chairs and had a great beach as well though so if you're staying in one of the overwater bungalows there's still plenty of opportunity to hang out there.
At least a portion of our pool had sun on it for the majority of the late morning / afternoon period which meant we could jump back and forth from the beach to the pool pretty comfortably...I agree that the unexposed portions of the pool would get pretty frigid although that might not be a bad thing depending upon your heat tolerance.
My wife and I had no issues with mosquitoes (something I expressed concern with further up-thread) even though there was literally zero wind on a couple days we were there and <5kt wind for the other days. I'm tempted to say it's no longer an issue now that the monsoon has passed. On a side note...we literally didn't see one remotely dark cloud in the sky during our entire time there. My wife commented 'it's kinda cloudy today' on a day that had at most 30% coverage. ^^^^
We also stayed in Male one night and took some time to visit the National Museum...something I'd recommend you do if you have the flexibility. Although it wasn't the most...umm...'extravagant' museum I've been to, the folks working there showed a tremendous amount of pride in their country and had a wonderful time talking about their history and heritage. The main fish market is down the road from the main wharf area as well and the central mosque in Male is right around the corner from that. Oh and the rooftop "bar" at the Jen Hotel had some killer mocktails too...with a view!
My handle is pretty transparent so if any of you recognize it from our few nights at the Whale Bar / yoga / etc it was a blast and safe future travels!! Maybe St Regis will open a Seychelles resort and we can all reconvene!

We are at the resort now and loving it! Our butler Ismail has been amazing and so have all the other staff! We got a tour of Decanter earlier today and looks amazing down there! the hotel upgraded us from a regular over the water villa to a sunset villa close to the John Jacob Astor villa. Stunning facilities and great service sum up our first 24 hours here!

britinva79 - Are you SPG Platinum? How were you able to receive an upgrade? I am arriving in a few weeks and am hoping to get a villa with a warm pool and some privacy.

yes have SPG platinum so that made a difference. Being here for anniversary may have also to get a villa with more privacy and with the amazing sunset views. The staff here really do go above and beyond.
