just an update

my wachoivia still loads nicely and I have switched between two visas. Im just doing loads every once and a while per month now but if i try to close to a previous load it denies me, which is normal. Then I just wait and then try a day or so later. As for ATM use I have never done it but i do think its 100.

My Visa Buxx cards are about to expire. Do I have to purchase new cards, or do they automatically renew? Love these cards and I have added tons of miles to my WorldPerks account with them. Great way to get miles for those of us who can't afford to purchase a ticket very often. Thanks FlyerTalk!

Hmmm, from what I remember back in Feb of this year when my card renewed, is that I just had to go into the account (as the sponsor not the "teen" or "user" and tell it to go ahead and renew and issue me a new/replacement card. I printed this out but cant find it all, and I think if anything, there was maybe a $5 fee.

good luck and yes it is a great mileage earning tool, and one of the few good ones left of its kind!

btw how many cards do you have and how did yu set them up in your world? I only have one and am just curious. TY feel free to pm me or tell it here or whatever.

actually, other than getting the card, paying whatever renewal fees and some other small things, I work it out to be about $4/1,000 miles, or... if you were to travel to say, from BOS to Maui on AA for a 35,000mile award, that would cost you about $140 USD for the RT ticket (+ any other small airline-related fees).

I tend to be sure to use my wachovia visabuxx card to make one or two tiny "normal" transactions before cashing it out so as to make it look like fully legitimate useage, as is always hoped for by those who marketed this gift card. Something like buying a candy bar or a 6 pack of beer at the store may work now and then... And I always leave a few dollars on the GC when I cash it out and then just load new CC money on top that when I am able.

Is the Wachovia card still only using the "Plus" system for POS transactions? I was never able to use that card to buy MOs.

I thought Wachovia doesn't allow PIN based transaction except for the ATM WD.

That's always been my experience, and coupled with the $100 limit on ATM withdrawals makes the Wachovia Card essentially useless. Which is why I cancelled it some time ago.
But I believe it is possible to use it at a POS if the POS store is on the "Plus" system (rather than say, "Interlink", which is what the old BofA Buxx used to be). I have yet to find any store that uses the "Plus" system, at least in my neck of the woods.

who said nuffin bout no pin transactions? hehe

I have never done one with the card actually, and have yet to use it at an ATM. One can charge up a stick of gum in most stores these days with the credit option and as well, my method of cash out for this GC has never involved any of the atm or pin systems many have often found useful.

(Ehem, Let's just not tell the retail section of my company all about how, exactly, I have been using their CC processing machines to get this stuff done...)

Others have surely learned and applied their own unique ways to cash out the GC and so for some, it does in fact live on. Should anyone find alternative successful methods, please post them here. TY.

Hmm, sounds like you have an option that is not available to rest of us...

Money Orders?

Marathon Man Aug 3, 2006 10:04 am

sorry, here's further clarification on my successful/current methods on this card:

Initially, I had found a couple small local banks that would still do CAs for the visabuxx card but in order to not make them suspcious of the fact this is not a real CC, I used to put some made up sticker over the words GIFT CARD on the visa itself and thats why they ran it as a CC when they did it the first few times. (said sticker was a small US flag or something which i made to look official. No one would question a flag on things these days, i figured)

later the tellers got to know me. BUT also I am lucky enough to have found a way to run it thru the CC machine in my company but if anyone ever found out theyd FIRE me right away so this is something i do not recommend. See, when someone pays us, in certain circumstances, it still does not matter how, or what happens with money, as long as its all there at the end of every day. And it is. wink wink. It's as if I were switching the actual paper dollars with exact duplicates so there ya go. (Ok, um, maybe I shouldnt talk about it too much, but my office won't read this and everybody wins in the end)

Well if you hear of anything new that works, or if i do, we will share it together, ok. I told this to a friend too but i guess we are all in this together, so good luck and happy mile-ing!

Juniper Bank Treatment

I don't recall reading recently about any credit card companies treating Visa Buxx transactions as cash advances, but can anyone confirm that Juniper Bank treats "loads" as purchases rather than cash advances? I recently ran a transaction thru a Midwest Airlines cc and I don't want to get any surprises on my next statement.

susjc Aug 9, 2006 12:38 pm

I had the USBank Visabuxx card for my son and loaded funds from my YX Juniper card with no problem. I recently cancelled because I was tired of paying the $2.50 load fee. you should be OK
