No. US Bank card doesn't allow PIN based transactions. IIRC only BofA VisaBuxx card allowed it.

Well after 3 years and six cards ===> +500K miles/points, they finally caught on and closed my accounts. I know this against the flyertalk creed, I'm kind of glad its over. I was getting tired of the monthly ATM runs. :D Well, on the next program .......

I feel your pain.
for me all GCs of this nature ended a while ago.
Which ones did you end up with to the end? US Bank or other? They kicked me out ages ago. Anything run by "wild Card systems" hated me!

Nat city, visa buxx by US Bank, and also others.

I also got kicked out of USAA bank, which had been for so long the best way to CA these things, and that ended months ago as well. And even the AMEX TC card is dead now. Like you I was glad because the ATM runs got cumbersome--especially after the time I found out the hard way that BofA ATMs now charge $3 for a non bank use! OMG! I protested and won, but man that's steep!

Soooo, no GCs for this poster! I am beginning to wonder if it is indeed the end of an era.

Twenty six cards in three different programs have given ned and mrs. ned over 700K miles . Only one program works any more and for me it is a big pain. Still I use it now and then for a few miles. At one time this was an excellent and overlooked way to earn mile. With the changes and discontinued programs I am just burned out. Sometimes I wish they would just end it.

Loading Visabuxx

Does anyone know if you load the buxx card with a credit card are you charged a cash advance fee from the CC?

No, I haven't been. Always posts as a purchase.

Can anyone comment on if the $50 bonus for the Nationwide Buxx card is still posting for activations in August?

SD and FW are both indicating varied results. Just wondering what the success rate is on FT.

Just applied for one today, so I'll let you know if it works for me.

I ordered my card on August 10th and activated it a few days later. My $50 bonus still hasn't posted and I'm getting the feeling it never will. In other blog posts readers have commented that customer service noted in conversation that you have to be a Nationwide customer to get the $50 bonus. :(

Citibank will charge as cash advance. Chase will post as purchase. Confirmed both earlier this month.

Nationwide Visa Buxx Prepaid Card - $50 Bonus

Just received this by tweet from another blogger -

There is a Nationwide Bank Buxx Card promotion for a $50 bonus using offer code 02010059 when you sign up for a new Buxx Card.
When you sign up, the initial load has to be a minimum of $25 to get the $50 bonus automatically loaded on card. You load using a debit card or credit card. They charge $2 to load plus a potential $5 account set up fee so there’s a $43 profit from this promotional offer. You don’t have to be member of nationwide bank.

I just signed up myself and it only took about 15 minutes. This is an easy way to get $43 so hurry and sign up while this offer lasts.

How to Claim This Offer:

Go to the Visa Buxx page and click Enroll
Sign up as a PARENT to claim the offer
Follow the steps to create an account
Once you finish making an account, click on the “Add New Teen” Tab
Use any information to “add a teen.” You can just use your own social security number again to add a teen.
When you come to the box that asks your for a promo code, use the code: 02010059
Make an initial load of at least $25
Wait 5 to 7 business days for your Buxx card with a $50 bonus to arrive in the mail
Again, Visa Buxx Cards are offering a $50 bonus when you load a new card with at least $25 and use the promotional code 02010059 when adding a teen. The only minor setback is a $2 fee for loading a card and a potential $5 account set up fee, but otherwise this is a great, simple offer that’s worth $43! It’ll only take a few moments of your time so hurry and sign up today."
Good luck guys!

this has been around for quite awhile, on both fatwallet and slickdeals, surprised this hasn't shown up on flytertalk.

Its works. I got my $50. Now is to figure out how to use this to play the miles game, since $500 cap load and $2 fee with additional $1 ATM withdraw fee (max $200 /week) makes this an expensive game.

Thanks, questions:

- Can you fund it with a credit card?
- If so, is it a cash advance?
- Why do they need a social security number? I assume they don't pull credit and it's just for money laundering reasons?
