Regardless of the semantic parsing of the Terms & Conditions, I would never insist on a $1 fee refund for the privilege of withdrawing free money (and miles).
It is like tipping the dealer after a good night in Vegas. Who exactly are you tipping? You're legally entitled to that $1. If you had 5 cards, that's $5 every week gone in ATM fees. $20 a month. I don't know about you, but I'm gonna speak up when I get charged for something that was supposed to be free in the first place. I'm not cheating anyone here, it's part of the T&Cs that THEY imposed on me. |
MM,
I got a 497.28 note from it. I also think bringing an issue to them on a single call about a fee would: 1) show up on their automatic number identifier. 2) Give the account some legitimacy, so that risk control knows customer has at least made one CS contact before. |

Citibank will charge as cash advance. Chase will post as purchase. Confirmed both earlier this month.
When I first ordered a WF GC, I tried to load $2500. It failed. My CA limit on the UA explorer card I was using was like $1400. While the process would go through/end up as a purchase, it needed the 'girth' or window of a CA as big as or greater than $2500 to actually work. I found this out and later had Chase move avail credit from other cards I have (this produced no CR pull, as opposed to raising one's limit, which would) and I got it up to $2700. The CA amount one has is a factor of or % of one's card CR limit. So by having my UA card's CR limit brought up to, in my case, $15k, the CA limit went up with it. Now I was able to buy/reload the WF card to its max. As for Citi, one can in fact have citi set a CA limit to $0, which is a great idea for nearly anything else we milers do in case some company tries to nail us in a would be purchase. But with the WF gig it meant the card would not go through. And, as some had found out, if the CA limit was NOT set to $0, you get nailed for CA fees and interest! Ouchie. So you could not use Citi. My question here though is, does the BUXX card need to have that same CA window to process like WF did, or could one try a citicard with the limit set to $0 and see what happens? I have used my Chase UA to start my Buxx world, but I am curious. I can also tell you that with WF, attempts to use a GC failed. I would imagine they might with this too, but I have not tried. I wonder how similar the two products are and thus, how similarly they can be cashed out... one must always think outside the outside of the box. MM |
citi bank
I've been using the Buxx card for several years now. I've never had a problem using a citibank card. Always posts as a purchase. Maybe the new Buxx cards are different.

I attempted multiple times today to get the WF card using 3 chase cards. All failed miserably yet pulling some 6k in cash advance authorizations depleting what's available on all 3 cards. I'm sure I'll be getting plenty of calls tomorrow morning from Chase, and hopefully not and account review.

I thought any card that allows for PIN transactions can be used to buy MO at Walmart..

both BUXX cards arrived today and I activated them.
I also chatted with the CSR. He told me the bonus would post 2 weeks after the initial load, which for me was on 8/29. I had put $25 on both and initially seemed unable to select a cash WD option on either card. So I guess I have to figure out how to change that if needed! Also, it would only post for one account per household. So those who got more had been lucky, and now they seemed to have tightened up. But it's still worthy, I think--especially if it can be cashed out through many means as asked about previously. :)MM |

If you don't have a branch of US Bank to get to one of their free ATM's you might look for Holiday Station Stores gas stations. Most all of them have US bank ATM's in them.
I dont think we have those but Ill look |

I believe the previous post contains the most useful information I have seen on FlyerTalk this week.
Meanwhile, I used my local ATM today to withdraw the last of the cash on my two Nationwide VisaBuxx cards. Three weeks ago, I bought the two cards, loaded with $500 each from my British Chase Visa (earning a total of 1,250 avios points), and promptly received the two $50 bonus payments. With a maximum cash withdrawal of $200 per week, it has taken me three weeks to suck all of the cash out of the cards. Total fees paid was $6 for the six cash withdrawals. Net profit: 1,250 avios and $94 cash. Life is good. |

Our local ones have hot dogs 2 for a $1.00 and my dogs enjoy eating one each while going through the car wash. No onions but pile on the chili bean and cheese sauce and open the window in the truck cuz they will get ripe. LOL
