I know that the max load of the Nationwide Visa Buxx is $500 but what is the card's maximum balance amount? I can't find this information anywhere and if the maximum balance amount is$500 then the card is much less useful than I thought.
When a parent orders a Nationwide Bank Visa Buxx Card for the first time, the minimum card value is $20.00 and the maximum card value is $500.00. After the Teen receives the Card, the minimum reload value is $10.00 and the maximum reload value is $500.00 per card and $1,000.00 per account. The standard weekly transaction limit for purchases is $800.00. The maximum amount allowable for cash withdrawals from ATMs and cash advances from Financial Institutions that accept Visa debit cards is limited $200.00 per seven day period. You may elect to not allow cash withdrawals on your Teen’s Card and you may designate a withdrawal limit less than the maximum allowed. The maximum Card value is $1,000.00. If the Card has $1,000.00 available for purchases or cash withdrawals, additional amounts may not be loaded onto the Card. http://www.nationwide.com/pop-up-lg/...isclosures.jsp |

Can anyone confirm how American Express codes a load on these cards? I'm not sure Amex is an option but I have a big spend to meet and wanted to know. Thanks.

Has anyone had success getting multiple of these per household and staying under the radar?

MM - you gotta read the T&Cs of the BoA checking accounts and the authorization you give when setting up the account to allow them to charge you research fees on their initiative. Basically you give them permission to rob you at $20 an hour. Why would BoA ever need a government bailout when they have a legal way to shakedown all the money they would ever want from their customer base using research fees?
We all need to become bankers - they can loot way more than the Nazis ever did and legally get away with it! Always wondered why folks were burning down BoA branches in the 1970s! They must have read their BoA account T&Cs.:p

I just am always sickened as to how THEY make these unspoken determinations as to who and when to shut an account. On the one hand, WE may know we intend only to use these to get miles and play by their T&Cs but use them solely for that purpose. While this is not wrong, it is not what they want us to do with them, so they begin to suspect our use is NOT what they intended it to be, and they shut us down. On the other hand, how can they be so sure? And if what we are doing is not right, why dont the T&Cs say so? Why wont they tell us. I ask this a lot and I gotta tell ya, it still angers me at times. They aint Cardinals, they are Nazis. And we allow them to exist because we allow these bank related laws to exist in the form they are in now.
Ok venting over. I, by the way, have yet to be shut down from the two teen buxx cards I have. I've loaded a couple times, gotten 2 boni, and used them to get MOs in split transactions. :)MM |

I don't currently have one of these, but I'm wondering if this is treated as a debit card when using it at say a Walmart register? Do you have to put in a pin and it is considered a debit transaction?
Thanks! |

I ran into a situation with my Nationwide buxx where I kept getting the error message "Maximum number of reloads reached." The max per month is 5 reloads, but I'd only funded the card once this month for the max $500. Searching around the various forums led nowhere, so I finally called up Nationwide to figure out what the issue was.
Apparently, there's a rolling 30 day funding limit of $1000 for each card. This is stated nowhere in the T&Cs, and the rep had to talk to a supervisor before she found out why I was getting that message. So I just need to wait until my 2nd to last reload has passed 30 days before I can load some more money onto this card. |

Either that's a new rule or she was giving you a line. I've loaded more than $1k in 30 days
In any case, I'm unable to load my card for the time being, so it doesn't matter much. I'll keep trying daily to see when it'll finally let me through. |

Well, she tried to load the card from my account as well and got the same message, so there was something going on in their systems that their front-line reps didn't know about (or, like you said, her supervisor gave her a line to get me off the phone).
