I thought that I would update the benefits of One card, since I really like(d) it.
But of course, all things change. The biggest benefit I saw with this card, besides being the usual demand deposit account, was the high yield savings account (not MM) attached to it. That still exists, although the interest rate had declined to 3.75%, matching the market overall. You have to either DD $500/mo. into the account or keep a balance of $5K in it to get access to the above benefits. Unfortunately, the other big benefit was the 3% cash back on WM purchases (less the usual exclusions such as GCs and drugs) and the usual 1% back on other purchases.. Unfortunately, that has drastically changed. Now, you get 3% back on the first $120 of purchases at WM per month. That means that you can earn only $3.60/month at WM using the 3% benefit or $43.20/year. Big Whoop!! What is more insulting is that you don't get 1% back after that, but rather 0.1% back or $1 on every $1000 spent. They claim that one can get higher returns using purchases at their special partners, but currently, there are all of 5 or 6, all useless to me. Bottom line: What was great is now just a good demand deposit account with a high yield savings account attached to it. I will use the card for the first $120 of WM purchases, and then switch to a regular 2% card after that. Kinda sad, TBH :( Use ta love this account. (of course you can keep trying to use it as MS vehicle a la Discover but Costal Bank is pretty harsh on such behavior. This can be confirmed by reading this thread from the beginning.) |

How much were you MS through One per month on average before they closed you account? From the DPs in this thread, the general consensus is to keep the VGCs loads < $1k and ACHs out < $1k per month to avoid a shutdown. Do you agree?
In truth, it isn't a bad demand deposit account for those who want to avoid fees for a checking account and it does have a high yield savings account that is not CD based. It just isn't as good as it once was :( |

Did you load $80 from a $200 MGC? What does SS MC 525362 mean?

MGCG ODOM 511332
I tried loading ONE for the first time today and attempted to test the cashiers willingness to split payment at same time. Figured i’d kill two birds with one stone as this location can be hit or miss Inserted ONE, told amount (198$) Swiped the same mcgc two times which each time being for $99 Ended up with error 62 I was under the assumption split payment would be fine with BHN PW as long as its 99/swipe |

It is interesting that all the $500 MGCs from WM, CVS, etc... load onto the One Debit and Discover Debit cards with zero issues.

Are you loading the full 500, or a lesser amount? I believe it some point cards were getting declined / locked when doing 500.

The original balance was 450ish, it was about 320 when I did the $80 load. I'm pretty overly cautious, especially with a card type or BIN I've never used and when there is a big balance remaining. I'd also been out of the game for a bit. |
