On the website. Unless you're thinking of activating which is done in store.

Thank you!!! If i understand correctly, activation is at the register and allows you to spend it, while registration is online and attaches your address and info to the card?

Thanks to your hint, it looks like the analogous page for Visa is https://mygift.giftcardmall.com/

Exactly. It's supposedly unnecessary if all you're doing with your cards is what this thread is about but I tried not registering them and have had nothing but issues. Maybe it's just a coincidence, IDK.
Also that Visa site you linked is correct but it has that big advertisement thing at the top which is a pain IMO and the MasterCard one works for both.

I have never registered a card and rarely (like two or three times) had a problem doing what we do :D The times I have had an issue is when I entered an incorrect PIN and then tried to use the card again with the correct pin and was locked out for (in my case) 24 hours before being able to use it again.

I have to rely on others DPs to learn about on-line registration and its ilk.

Thanks!! Are there any other common GC types that can be "registered" or to which you can add an address or phone number? (Other than this weird one.)

I'm pretty sure Vanilla has no option like this, since there is a lot of chatter on how they took away they ability to add a zip code. Similar for Simon Mall since I see people freaking out over not being able to pay taxes without attaching an address (or something like that).

The Pathward cards can be registered with address/phone number.

Thanks! Does this also apply to the Pathward Vanillas, YourRewardCards, etc? Or more just to like the BHN type at many brick-and-mortar stores, etc?

No only PW/BHN cards that I am aware of. Any Vanilla variant doesn't work. I don't know of every possible type of VGC but yes I am referring to BHN types that you can buy at a B&M store (ex: Staples/OM, grocery stores, etc).

So, some potentially bad news for all of those who use Discover for monetizing GCs.

Discover is going to be acquired by Capital One Bank

Capital One Receives Approval of Delaware State Bank Commissioner for Acquisition of Discover Financial Services

While I expect the transition to take a while, it still means that the final company, Cap1, is going to be the surviving company driving the boat, and while DPs are few and far between, I haven't seen many positive DPs on Cap1 products.

They're certainly no friends of MS, but maybe the screw tightening will take a while. Not like they can immediately fire everyone in Discover departments, and replace them with super hard core insiders.... Musk-style.

BAU in the Greater Phoenix Area. For any other AZ residents, beware that the $999/24hr cap is unfortunately a legitimate constraint. You can, however, load up to $999.99.

I tried to add money to my card at the WM MC today. My debit card is not contactless, so I inserted it and told the employee the amount I wanted. I kept receiving an error after swiping my GC, but it didn't appear to be caused by my GC. The employee told me some Discover cards don't work for cash reloads at MCs. I've had this account for over a decade, but DIscover hasn't sent me a contactless card yet. I may see what I can do about requesting a new card online and try again. The GC worked for reloading my ONE card.

It sounds like you already know this but it has to be a contactless card.
