Signing up to buy $1000 visa/mc gift cards
You can buy the $1000 cards on Simon's volume site. Their regular site only sells $500 cards.
If you're new, or haven't bought anything in a year, you need to register at https://www.simon.com/volume/register-consumer
As part of the registration process, you will have to go to a brick and mortar mall and buy at least $3000 in cards in person, as well as filling out some paperwork while there. After that, you can do everything online.
As of Nov 2020, Simon Mall Gift cards will only work for $99/swipe for money services at Walmart and many grocery chains.
$1000 gift cards are available indefinitely.

My thought exactly, there is so much misinformation coming from him that I tend to think he's purposefully doing it.

I test out a small portion once every one or two months. I've done it since April, not because of the post about business cards possibly working but on the chance that something will change regarding coding. I don't mind leaving $10-$25 worth of points on the table to test it out every so often.

One thing I don't like is the embossed cards were an easy way for me to know (by touch) if it was a $1,000 card or a $500 card. It's not really an issue but if I'm using both $1k and $500 cards, it was a nice way to easily distinguish.
I imagine it saves them a couple of cents per card so it adds up...

The CSR at my local Simon always writes the amount with black ink in the back of all the cards. I, of course, do not buy $1,000 VGC anymore. I do $995.88 and $990.88 now, as I like to have them with $0 balance once I liquidate them at Wally. The cheaper the product (non embossed) the better for me when I stack them and throw them into my MS box for .

Yes, typically triggers the ID check at some of them. Staying bellow $999.12 allows me to avoid showing ID. Also, I like to round it to $995 or $990 or even $985 sometimes. Either way, MO go straigth to pay Credit Cards.

Random. 2 weeks ago a 998 triggered that. All the cashiers at that NM location are friendly in various degrees. No one is stiff. The one on duty that day was annoyed by the system required extra steps (she did not type but kept punching on the screen and mumbling her displeasure then asked whether I had my ID with me, then scanned it.) Previously, like months ago, only when a second transaction would put the total above the threshold that one cashier chose to manually trigger the requirement.

Has anyone purchased simon GC's using Visa/MC GC's from staples? i.e. does Simon accept multiple swipes for purchase?

Any reports of shutdowns with credit limit cycling with the Discover It Miles credit card?

Simon definitely accepts multiple swipes, but not sure if they accept GC's without a name on it or not. I would ask them, don't want to risk getting blacklisted from Simon and the CSR's are usually very friendly and helpful.

There is no way they'll accept a card without a name on it (ie, GC) if they notice it.

According to policy, this is not allowed. The terminals are not hard coded against it though, although you risk getting the associate in trouble when they audit the long ... receipt that they keep and it says something like $0-500VSA where it normally says a persons name.
