Denied today at my friendly Albertson's. Didn't even attempt a swipe since the CSR knows I use gift cards and appoglized, saying she just found out yesterday.

I'll maybe try at a Safeway today, but otherwise Kroger is my last option. After the Walmart block, I at least have Kroger with Safeway as a backup. Now I don't really have a backup, so if Kroger gets blocked, then I have no other money order option. I'd have to find another way to liquidate. And doing that with $10k in SMVGC could be a hell of a challenge.

For those that are still not convinced about the Safeway/Albertsons memo, there is a blog post on FrequentMiler below that shows the Safeway/Albertsons memo on the upcoming BHN $99 limit on its cards. Not sure if this has already gone into effect yet.

Did she deny you because the system update for BHN cards is in effect or just the fact that the memo says no VGC/MCGCs? Just trying to see if there are any data points on whether this update has taken place yet.

The fact they are manually denying offers a small hope, as why bother with that if there is a system fix on the way in the immediate future.

DP: No issues using $1000 Simon VGCs at various Las Vegas Albertson's on May 1 or at two Rancho Cucamonga Albertson's on May 3. Fingers crossed.
