Safeway/Vons Master thread (2018 onwards)

I JUST bought a $500 surfboard/kayak gc and did not receive any fuel points. Can anyone confirm if any visa/mc gcs are still giving fuel points as of Jan 1st?

that's a bummer! those are the $500 variables ones that normally give gas pts (but no $10 off). i guess they've caught on with a lot of things.

saw a couple of DPs that SE and DE still works for gas though (no $10 off with the current promo).

Can SE and DE be used at Safeway to buy whatever?

No luck for me today on kayak/balloons/cupcakes. Was hoping it would last at least a few days into this month but that round lasted longer than usual so can't complain.

I’ve tried Kevlar, Balloons, Cupkae, Kayak, and Surfboards with no luck on gas points. There’s one other blue-ish sapphire looking flavor that I’ll try, but I’m not optimistic.

doubt that the $10 off promo will come back anytime soon as no rush for the corp. to meet sales/revenues quota at start of the yr

Late DP:PA ACME was running 5X on all purchases till yesterday. Was able to get 4X (don't understand the logic of why not 5X) on 2x500 MCGC variable.

Yes, or at least, it did in December... I'm in NorCal for reference.

Also new policy at NorCal Store I went to this week: all gift cards over $100 require manager approval regardless of payment method; sounds like store got burned somehow.

Was at a SW in Bay Area today. Stopped in around 6am on my way to work. Tried to pick up a Kevlar VGC. I was told that their system could not accept debit and gift cards for purchases at that time due to "a Verizon global outage" (signs on neon paper officailly notifying incoming customers at the doors). But it still did not like either my Amex or Citi AA Exec.... was going to go back later in the day to see if it was resolved but the sign remained on the door. Didnt want to waste time in line, so I will live to buy another day.

Anyone else have issues picking up VGCs today?
