They just took them off in the last three hours. Kmart was there at 5 pm EST. I got the $25 bonus today on 4 cards I cashed out at k yesterday. I cashed the last 7 cards that I had this evening. We'll see if the bonus posts on those.

The negative: Kmart is dead
The positive: no reason to have to ever step foot in one again

Time to catch up on sleep!

There are benefits I'd say... just not as good.

Use a $1k 5B from SM for 5 DE/GE at Lowe's will yield about $18 bucks! definitely not worth the hassle

I had a similar feeling about Family Dollar when my Serve died

Though speaking of my multitude of $25.05 balance 5 Backs, I found a great way to liquidate them. I'm going to begin to taking them to my weekly Monday happy hour which is pint night and nearly everything is $3. 3 beers + tax/tip and I've erased a lot of the balance.

Free beer is the best beer.

$25x2 - 4.95x5+10% tax - $3.95x2 - $0.70x2 = $13.48
or
$50 - $27.22 - $7.90 - $1.40 = $13.48

By those calculations it means only a net gain of about 1.3%. We can do that from the comforts of home just buying cards via portals.

So, I unloaded the last 12 of my 25s at Lowes this morning. I thought the cashier was going to have a brain aneurysm. She was frantically looking around for someone to talk to, seemed like she was super concerned with what I was doing. I even had to use a few of the "Restaurant Tricks" I learned on hear to get a couple of the cards to work. Haha. So happy to be done with this...

That math is wrong, you should exclude the 3.95 fees since if you buy these with 2% cashback card, you're already getting around 1.2% profit.

And MO costs would have been the same if you liquidated the 500s straight to MO, so the extra profit by jumping through these hoops is more like $23-24 per $1000. Not terrible if you can do large volume of small GC liquidation but would take up a lot of time.
