New to the site, but I tried two times unsuccessfully yesterday to buy a single $500 VGC from the site. Tried again today, but ordered a $10 Amazon gc with it and it went through.

Citi CCs closed
 
Use caution. My two Citi accounts were closed today. Possibly unrelated, but probably not. More details here:

I ordered $1.5k on my Citi AAdvantage. It was denied. Many other of my orders seemed to have processed fine though ($8.5k total). I used the same account and same address, but different credit cards for each $2k or $1.5k order. I didn't use any other Citi cards for purchases. Not sure if it makes a difference, but I had unique images for most VGCs.

When I called Citi to clear the fraud alert, they said to call back on Monday since their security department was closed and they couldn't do anything. Today (Monday), they sent me an email saying my accounts were closed due to too many new open accounts. I opened four accounts since my last Citi app.

I can't help but think that if I preauthorized the purchase, no one would have looked carefully at the accounts, causing the shutdown.

Sheesh! I hope this doesn't happen to me. My wife and I each got our AT&T Citi cards for the express purpose of getting the new iPhone when it is released. I purchased several gift cards on each card on Thursday and Friday to stockpile some points. So far all orders are processed with no cancellations.

Is everyone who is getting the cancelled orders pretty new to giftcards.com?

It seems like they got a huge rush recently when they showed up on reddit's /r/churning, and then got picked up by multiple blogs. I'm wondering if that kicked up the fraud potential.

Better question is to ask who has been able to successfully order in the past week?

I've been relegated to swinging by Walmart and purchasing $500 Sunnies 1 by 1 to meet my Amex Platinum bonus requirements. Did the AGC --> Sunnie conversion prior to the removal of cashback for $2000 AGCs. MS is becoming more of a pain now...
