So what's the limit at Kroger

I know Kroger is taking DL no. even for just one gift card purchase, but does anyone know what their "limit" is or at what point one becomes "suspicious" to them?

Bought 3 x $500 today with no issues. They generally ask for my DL right after I swipe my CC for payment.

In ATL they thoroughly inspect DL and CC and enter some data as well. But no other limitations re purchased amount .

My local Ralphs (Kroger store) freely sells VGC and MGC with cc, but I've been gunshy due to being a victim of fraud last December (actually from another Ralphs 10 miles away). I finally got my money back, but it was a PITA!!

Anyone buy gifts cards at the register and then go to the service desk to buy MOs?

At least that way you'll know the cards are good.

the old adage don't crap where you eat comes to mind. I don't dump the cards where I buy them.

If you are going to be brazen enough to do this, hopefully you at least have enough common sense to leave the store first so you aren't fiddling with the packaging while you are in line to buy the MO's.

Exactly. Use other stores in the area, or if there is only one in your town, wait until the next day to unload them.

Yep I am personally aware of a couple of Krogers that started inspecting cards to confirm "real" debit for MO/BP because of some idiot who was doing just this. They told me the "loss prevention" folks made them do it.

And after you get the MO you can walk over to the in-store bank branch and deposit it. None of this will draw any negative attention. Nope. None.

I remember reading $100 VGC get gas points. Is this still true?

Was a couple of weeks ago when I last bought some. I wish the $20-500 ones earned points, that would be awesome.

Definitely going to buy some then. $12 in fees gets $10 in cash back with OBC, and 40c off a gallon of gas. I typically fill up with 12 gallons at a time, so that's an additional $5 off. The $15 coupon will help with groceries

Even better on 4x points days/coupons. I don't have a 5% grocery card other than quarter bonuses, but I fill up with 35 gallons between two cars at a time. So with 4x points, 3 $100 cards costs $18 but saves $35 and still leaves 20c off the next fill-up (Another $7). Any cash back, miles, points, etc is just a bonus.
