Bought 2x $1000 MO today and was required to swipe Kroger card. Literally screen would not continue transaction without it. Fine. I'm not doing anything wrong, but it still surprised me. New policy and obviously meant to track MO purchases.

Interesting. What part of the country are you in?

They did not want me to use a CC to buy normal Disney GCs in Virginia. Said only debit. I think they are confused over the policy. After a few minutes they let me use the CC.

This has been there for a while. It is a random check for audit purpose. Not all MO purchase needs kroger card.

It does occur to me that you could give any area phone number and it would likely link with someone random's card.

But today I go in to another Kroger and they don't ask at all. Just process it the 2k MOs. So yeah, that's where I'm going to go.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before but has Ralph's discontinued the Vanilla GCs? All the Ralph's in our area don't have them on the racks anymore. The other day I asked an associate but he obviously didn't even have a clue what I was talking about when I showed him the US Bank cards and asked about the ones with the black or silver packaging saying "Vanilla" on it...

So I went and asked the worker what the policy was, ssying something to the effect of "Oh, I thought you couldn't buy more than $2000 at once, can you buy more?" CSR said "Thats just a cash limit for those cards, variable load cards purchased in more than $2000 must be paid for with a credit card."

I asked her politely if the Store manager was there (she was) and asked her about it as well, just to be sure. She told me that at her store, you can buy any amount as long as its with a CC and the card gets authorized.

Bought 6k for the amex BCP 6% cash back limit, and 3k for the Citi TY min spend. Then bought 1k on my Citi double cash card.

Now to unload via 2 redbirds. What a nice way to make a grand in a day! (Two really, have to unload twice at target.)
wow your lucky, I have seen the corporate memo and your Kroger got it completely backwards...The memo enforced at my closest Kroger in Fort Worth TX states anything OVER $2000 (including fees) has to be in cash....so basically limits you to 3 $500 cards a day.....it is not followed at any other Kroger I have been to, and the cash registers are not hard coded against it, but the memo claims they soon will be....with variable load visas available for $1 cheaper at wallyworld, Kroger will see less of my business.

Does anyone have a link to the corporate memo? I know someone posted it here earlier. I did a quick search during lunch but could not find it. TIA

If not, I'll take more time tonight when I get home.
