My experiences have been - yes, the payee information can garbled up but it is really obvious for you to detect as the information on the payment screen would DISAGREE with the original payment initiation screen (i.e. pick the payee to pay) - right there you know you should NOT continue. Log out and then log back in using Private Browsing of the browser you prefer to use. That takes care of the issue. Make payment with the Private Browsing function. After that, the payee information returns back to normal. If you are still not comfortable using BB bill pay, then transfer the money to your real bank account. The easiest way is request transfer directly from BB to the linked bank account. (having a linked bank account verified from the beginning when you set up BB has an advantage, needless to say.) |

I guess I should have linked a bank account sooner. I will link the account when I know I don't have payments to send out. I'm sure that BB will lock my account when I add one.
Seems ALL banks, not just BB, do not allow same external bank account being linked to different accounts of the same bank. Chase would not let us link the same JT BofA bank account to our individual Chase checking account for example. I guess that is a measure to prevent money being pulled to same bank account (thru some illegal acts). |

However this work around is not too cumbersome, and has been proven by many that works. Personally, I am not going to delete existing payees and re-do the whole list again because I normally make a test payment first when first establish a payee. It would be much more pain to do this all over again versus just use the private browsing function and be more vigilant in making sure everything is what it should be before submit a payment. Furthermore, if you submit your payment early enough to allow an hour or two before the cut off time of the day, you can return to check the payment information as a final check. If information not correct, you can always cancel the payment. The fund would immediately return back to your account. Incognito, InPrivate browsing is not a full proof plan. Recommended yes, but there are still reports of payments being sent to the wrong accounts even when the account numbers are matched correctly using private browsing. The bloggers have finally started talking about this...
However, as we all know and I personally have experienced, as recent as Wed, there are still issues. But the issues I encountered, did have difference than before - in that, the wrong information prominently displayed itself on the payment entry screen. Hence I caught it. After using the Incognito and the payee info returned back to normal, I decided to keep the payment in place as an experiment. The payment went smoothly as how it worked in the past. I would continue to use Bill Pay, but would only use ONE account at a time and no more than 2 payments on same day, to reduce the risk. |
Bluebird getting out of the bill paying business?
I have had a Bluebird account for about a year, and found it very useful for manufactured spending. I think, however, the party may be over. I tried to pay a utility bill this evening, a payee that I had paid many times in the past. After I clicked submit after entering the amount, I was told that the zip code was incorrect. I checked the settings, and the zip code was correct. I called the Bluebird representative who told me that the problem was that I was using a P.O. Box, which is no longer permitted for a remittance address. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and she confirmed this. All of my payees use P.O. Boxes for payment addresses--I think it is rare that a physical address is used anymore for payments. I asked the supervisor for suggestions, but she had none. Sounds to me like American Express may be trying to get out of the business of paying bills.:(

All Bill Pay Payee now correctly in place
Due to incorrect linking of Bluebird data causing wrong account credit last week, I was prepared to delete all bill pay accounts and add as needed.
To my surprise, all bill pay account data in now back in correct place. No need to delete any bill pay. Hopefully everything should work allright now. Have to wait end of month to reset clock for loading. |
Most of my bills are addressed to PO Boxes. Haven't had any issues, sorry.

Paying my CC bills to PO boxes, no problems so far.
|
I don't even have addresses for my payees, all they care about is the name and my account number :-(

I believe the incidents you mentioned happened in the early stage of the issue, between late Feb and up to March 10th and BB acknowledged the problematic period being up to March 10th.

Having that said I have not deleted any accounts, I have 3 BB's. Only one had issues, and I have made multiple payments from each daily. Well only March 1-5th (March 1 and 3rd were my dates of problems). Hopefully this is fixed by the time I start on my April stash. I didn't bother with BB CSR anymore. They did respond quickly on twitter but even then I took your advice, and sent CITI a secure message to ACH my payments back to me (THANK YOU for that advice, a couple of you told me about that). Best advice, play it safe, have a back up plan (or back up funds) available just in case. KEEP TRACK OF EVERYTHING! But you should be doing that anyway, and I know most people on here already are... |
The ZIP Code is really flaky. I had an existing payee that suddenly developed a bad ZIP Code. I brought up the payee in edit mode & the ZIP Code displayed as 9 digits with no hyphen, so I deleted just the last digit, BB immediately inserted the hyphen, I retyped the last digit and saved it, and everything worked fine. Similarly with a new payee that saved as nnnnn-nnnn but when I went to pay it BB said the ZIP was bad - brought it up in edit and sure enough the hyphen was missing, so I deleted & retyped the last digit and that fixed it.

It's probably related to all the bill pay screw ups recently. Did you try removing and readding the payee?
