I have had a Bluebird account for about a year, and found it very useful for manufactured spending. I think, however, the party may be over. I tried to pay a utility bill this evening, a payee that I had paid many times in the past. After I clicked submit after entering the amount, I was told that the zip code was incorrect. I checked the settings, and the zip code was correct. I called the Bluebird representative who told me that the problem was that I was using a P.O. Box, which is no longer permitted for a remittance address. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and she confirmed this. All of my payees use P.O. Boxes for payment addresses--I think it is rare that a physical address is used anymore for payments. I asked the supervisor for suggestions, but she had none. Sounds to me like American Express may be trying to get out of the business of paying bills.:(
Outsourced call centers are particularly bad, but BB takes the cake. It's too bad that an otherwise fine organization like American Express has attached its name to this monstrosity, as far as customer service goes. I don't blame the representatives; they have awful training, get no resources and are incentivized to get you on and off the phone. There appear to be no consequences for providing misinformation. I had a bill pay sent to a person mysteriously disappear into thin air. My current theory is that it was never actually sent, even though it shows up in the account. It is, btw, the only bill pay listed for that account, so it can't have been sent to the wrong person. For this particular account, I have limitations on electronically connecting it to a bank, so I ordered a book of checks. I had originally been reluctant to order the checks, since the representative told me that it would cost $40 and I really didn't feel like forking over the cash. A bit of investigation on my part, however, revealed that to be misinformation, as well. The checks were free. Mike |

Using an Ipad2? If so, click immediately to the right of the available balance and it will give you a drop down menu. On my computer at work, there is some type of symbol in that spot, but on the ipad2, it's just a blank spot. Just another IT enhancement from one of the upgrades....
I was using my PC with Chrome (updated version). I even used IE 8 and got the same thing. |
BB BP sent my payment to the wrong acct. Notice today that one pymt was sent to my Citi Exec Card which has been closed. BP was issue on 13th and should had posted today/tomorrow. The wrong pymt hasn't post but i'm not sure if it will since the card is technically close.
Have anyone encounter this before. Do closed accts still allow BP or will it reject it and kick the pymt back to my BB. I'm hoping this happen so I won't have to wait for citi to issue me a check which will likely take a few weeks. BTW, BP is still broken. I attempted another 1 transaction today and went to the wrong acct again. This is getting very annoying making it that much harder to track when using multiple BB. |

Yep happened to us a few days ago. Confirmation email and BP list both said the payment went to Chase, but it posted to my Citi card instead. Called BB last night and they said there is some sort of technical issue that is causing this to happen to a lot of people. The only solution they have found so far is to have you delete every one of your BP accounts and start over. I haven't tried it again but I did clear all of mine out. Now we just have to wait to get the $$ back into our account to send it to the right company. Sigh...
And, FWIW, I had been experiencing the random account switch between selecting the pay-to account and the actual payment page, and switching browsers did take care of that for the most part. I am certain that is NOT what happened here though because the confirmations said the payment went to Chase. |
scratch that. it finally posted to my close citi acct rather than the intended chase. time to req a check. lesson learned, use private browsing for all future pymt.

Bluebird Billpay Bug
Not sure this has been covered elsewhere, if it has feel free to ignore.
Be careful when using Bluebird Billpay from a public computer. There seems to be a bug that messes with your list of payees. I don't want to be too specific here, I am just going to say that you absolutely should use incognito windows to make sure your data are safe and your payments are going to the right destination. I am trying to find a way to e-mail my observation to AMEX BB as I don't really want to spend hours on the phone trying to explain this to somebody but haven't been able to find an e-mail address. |

If someone logs into their own Bluebird account after you have done your billpay, it will show them your payee (the one you just paid) and even display YOUR credit card number to them. |
has anyone been able to successfully setup PenFed mortgage in billpay (it shows up as Pentagon FCU)? keep getting the error about zip code being 5 or 9 digits.
wondering if others had this issue and had to find a workaround....either manual setup or just physical check? |
Just another data point.
My most recent payments to a Chase Ink and a Freedom posted to the correct accounts. My BP screen offers "Chase Credit Cards", then acct number, then a nickname. I have only one BB account, using Safari, not set to private browsing. |
My second BP finally arrived. Checkbook still MIA.

so sent 4 payments
Users 1 & 2 Chase Users 3 & 4 Citi user 1 Payment sent to chase and shows chase user 2 Payment sent to chase and shows chase user 3 Payment sent to Citi but in transactions shows Chase (when I go to pay a bill it says I paid Citi in recent payments with 3/26/14 date) user 4 Payment sent to Citi but in transactions shows Chase (when I go to pay a bill it says I paid Citi in recent payments with 3/26/14 date) In the email for users 3 & 4 it states Deliver By Date: 03/28/2014 To: CHASE CREDIT CARDS but like I said under recent activity for the pay a bill tab it states I sent payment to citi and not chase, and when I click on view transactions it states those payments went to chase. is this the same crap that happened a few weeks ago? seems like it. |
Immediately after bill payment, click on bill pay history and reconfirm that payment going is correct to the account intended.
If not, cancel the bill pay immediately. If wrong accounts are linked, delete all bill payee and start fresh to add bill payee as needed. |

I got all my March money successfully moved to the right places, but the calendar tells me I've got to start doing this again in 3 days. EDIT: I just saw the other thread stating that CVS might stop taking credit cards for VRs on Monday. If so, glitches in the Bluebird system will be the least of our worries. :) |
