THIS RESOLVES NOTHING!!! JUST CONFIRMS THEY MADE A MISTAKE! talking on the phone, again, to get this resolved. The rep even confirmed showing that these payments were posted going to Chase and BOA, not CITI. But I still have two CITI cards with negative balances that I don't use.

You're probably not going to see much relief from BB. Their CSRs are often worthless.

Your best bet is to request for Citi to transfer the positive balances to your bank account or send you a check.

Yeah no help. 5-7 business days maybe a response. Luckily I pay everything in advance and have plenty of funds to cover everything otherwise I would have a late car payment and late credit card payment. Extremely poor customer service considering that their target customer is people who probably do not have available funds to cover mistakes like this. Not MS's like us.

I thought I escaped this issue. Sent one payment to the Citi Executive with one BB account on Monday and it posted today. Sent another payment from a different BB and it hadnt posted today. I thought it might have been something with their procedures that prevented them from showing two payments on the same day. Not so much. Checked my Amex Business Gold and bam -$3xxx.xx credit balance. I called up Amex and they agreed to wire a refund directly to my checking account. No harm no foul I guess but I will be deleting all my payees going forward. All these payment problems started when they switched over to the new website.

Forget about BB.

Just send Citi an SM on the negative balance. They can send the money right back to you via ACH once they verify the credit balance and you provide them the necessary bank information. A whole lot easier and quicker than dealing with BB.

As for BB, well, you do not need to endure their poor customer services which we all know how bad it is. Yet, we still use BB, for some obvious reasons. If you dont want to put up with BB, just quit using them and be done with them. Simple.

The risk you take when you use a Non-Bank to handle your critical payments.

Why even bother to worry about their targeted customers? Their targeted customers most likely do not use BB for bill pay as they probably would not have a car payment or credit payment to worry about. Remember BB is advertised as No Credit Check, PREPAID card so the targeted customers can use it for the occasions they have to make an online purchase when they do not have a CC to use...

Take care of yourself by NOT relying on BB as a 100% fool-proof operation. It is NOT, and would NEVER BE. So act accordingly, from Day One.

It is amazing how people keep forgetting the MSers do not use BB as intended, and become so complacent when things dont work smoothly. Even the regular banks have SNAFUs ever so often, let alone an online only outfit that is for the unbanked.

I did not have any issue on payments made on Monday. Payments to Chase from 2 BB accounts. Both arrived on Tuesday as shown received by Chase.

Today when I made payments again, one account had all the payees mismatched with their nicknames but the errors were really easy to detect as the information shown on the payment amount entering screen, disagreed with the payee I chose.

Incognito window solved the issue. I also found that once you have used the incognito window, the mismatches seem to self-correct themselves.

BTW, I always check the "setting" of each payee before making a payment. Call me paranoid, I always worry about BB would mysteriously truncate a digit or whatever, causing the account number become unrecognizable. Therefore I always check the setting to make sure everything is fine before making a payment. I also put in the full account number and name in the optional memo field on each payment.

At the end I decided to leave the payment to US Bank Club Carlson alone as the Payment Activity screen showed correct payee information. Due date is not until April 1st. Will update the outcome.

Already forgot about it. Just bought my $5K at CVS for the day and I'm happy again...

I never pay my critical payments from BB. If I pay anything important like Auto or Mortgage from BB it is because I'm months ahead on payments and if it is late or missing there will be nothing negative reflected on me or my accounts.

The risk you get running $50-60K+ on VR's alone each month. But the rewards make it worthwhile!

Wed's Payments arrived the targeted payees on Thursday smoothly.

FPL showed received payment Thursday morning when Blue Bird ACH hit.

US Bank Club Carlson showed receipt of payment today with Thursday's date as usual.

As mentioned before, I have found that in the case of garbled payee, using incognito window to make payment once, seems to put the payee display back to the correct table.

I sent a payment on March 5. It still has not arrived. I called today and spoke to three levels of people. No one could give me any firm answers about time frame or the final resolution. Bottom line:

1) It will take two business days for them to determine that this check has not been cashed. Any real bank could tell you on the spot.

2) After two days, they will call me with an update. Note that the update might be that they are working on it.

3) Once they determine that the check has not been cashed, it will take 5-6 business days for the check to be returned to my account.

4) After that, I get to repeat the whole process again.

5) They suggested that I get a book of checks but will not waive the fee for me to get the book. This BB account was opened after the free check promo ended.

Add another one to the list

I transferred $ to bank #1 successfully to pay mortgage in prior months. This month processed same way, but $ transferred to a totally different bank.

Hoping BB can figure this out soon. Not acceptable.

Made payment to Barclays on March 8 and hasn't shown up. I can't find it on any of my other accounts. Called BB and was told to dispute the charge and that will cancel the payment. What a bummer :td:

What if this might be Amex's way of discouraging us MS'ers!

msiamsia Mar 14, 2014 2:11 pm

Awwww..
Sorry to hear about payment going to wrong places/not showing up, etc...

This thread has taught me to deposit BB check into your bank account and pay from your bank for important stuff, like mortgage....

Reading up some of the recent comments all the more confirmed that I'll stick to depositing BB check rather than using BB billpay....

I hope everything is resolved soon.

I used my card that had a credit balance after a misapplied payment to buy some beans at CVS.

Regarding the deposit of checks instead of bill pay, have you all had any issues with the bank or BB with this process?

Happy Mar 14, 2014 3:58 pm

You can transfer money to the linked bank account and the money shows up in your bank account the next day. No need to even use the BB check at all.

My experiences have been - yes, the payee information can garbled up but it is really obvious for you to detect as the information on the payment screen would DISAGREE with the original payment initiation screen (i.e. pick the payee to pay) - right there you know you should NOT continue.

Log out and then log back in using Private Browsing of the browser you prefer to use. That takes care of the issue.

Make payment with the Private Browsing function. After that, the payee information returns back to normal.

Yes, it is an inconvenience that we need to use a work around in order to make sure the bill pay functioning correctly. However this work around is not too cumbersome, and has been proven by many that works.

Personally, I am not going to delete existing payees and re-do the whole list again because I normally make a test payment first when first establish a payee. It would be much more pain to do this all over again versus just use the private browsing function and be more vigilant in making sure everything is what it should be before submit a payment.

Furthermore, if you submit your payment early enough to allow an hour or two before the cut off time of the day, you can return to check the payment information as a final check. If information not correct, you can always cancel the payment. The fund would immediately return back to your account.

If you sill are not comfortable using BB bill pay, then transfer the money to your real bank account. The easiest way is request transfer directly from BB to the linked bank account. (having a linked bank account verified from the beginning when you set up BB has an advantage, needless to say.)
