its doable elsewhere for under 2.3%, like if you were to be smart about where you charge.

Hard to say, but it doesn't really matter going forward as you are limited to 1 total payment per month per payee.

Just wondering, after this biller being suspected, will it be possible to open another account in my husband' name and pay it only one time per month (starting Oct)? or is the biller account completedly blocked from all evolve accounts?

Where can you unload massive quantities of GCs at 2.3%?? I don't believe there is anything out there that scales to the levels some of us want to churn.

Search around a little bit, you'll find it. Hell, it's even listed in this thread and he gave you a hint.

"4 payments/month limit until Aug" -- does it mean the system only allow upto 3 payments/month (before Sep 1)? I got a suspension email on my mortgage account, paid 4 times in aug and one time in sep... the email said "closed due to the volume processed".... any chance to appeal?

Why did you wait until the last 2 days of Aug to issue 4 payments and then another payment on Sep 1st? Sounds like too much too fast IMO. You loaded $2.5K in just 3 days.

I have a big mortgage > $2.5K, I would hope to get the payments delivered in roughly at the same time so that I could call to get them all combined and applied to the monthly payment. Plus, my local walmart has just shut off taking VGCs completely, right after I fully loaded 5k from CVS :( Guess this mortgage biller is completely blocked ? Can't even try from my husband' account next month?

I don't know if Evolve blocks you by your address for that particular payee or just the email address account. I guess theoretically if they didn't block you by your address then you could just create more accounts with different emails to circumvent this. I think its worth a try to have your husband create an account and see if he is able to send the payment. At least we can gather more data points on whether this works or not.

I guess one thing I want to ask you is whether you can still pay other payees with your existing account?

Evolve Money

They block you by payee account number.

The chargesmart rep who posted in that thread stated the following about Evolve: "Evolve seems to be using a simple tactic of undercutting the market, but with limited ways to pay and once their resources dry up, the business doesn't seem to be sustainable and will eventually spike up their prices losing most of their customer base in the process."

Seems like that prediction is turning out to be true. It's nice to still be able to do one payment fee-free, but it's far from how Evolve originally started. And I wouldn't be surprised if more negative changes will be coming in the future, since the new limit just stops the bleeding at Evolve, but doesn't solve the problem of how Evolve will make money.

Unfortunately they don't take Amex GCs. I guess you could use OVs but the comparison to square isn't accurate as square does take Amex GCs. Of course with AGCs all at zero on the portals this might not matter for a while.

rismoney Sep 4, 2014 10:32 am

AGCs at zero is going to be high next qtr. I'm expecting sub-0 if things just run their course barring changes.

i submitted two transactions for 200 each to the same biller just now for payment the 4th.
they took money from both of my debit accounts.
we'll see if the transactions go through. maybe they are behind on implementation.

At the end of August I did 2 transactions scheduled for 9/4 and 2 for 9/5 to pay my Wells Fargo mortgage. The first 2 went through OK today. I'm pretty happy about that but will be hosed for the next payment with the new rules and will have to do something else.

Evolve officially sux

I made 2 payments on sep 2, completely unintentionally..i forgot about their new policy. The system let me pay without any warnings..next day I get an email saying my biller account has been closed due to exceeding the limit. Called them, they dont budge.

They make customers pay for the shortcomings of their website. They allowed my payments to go through instead of denying the 2nd payment and then closed the account. Completely unprofessional in my opinion.
screw evolve

screw evolve

I did the same mistake by making payments from 2 accounts. I sent a nice email asking for one time exception and they did let me back.

Of course, this is not much useful with only 1 payment/payee but if you want your account to be active, there's no harm in sending an email.
