Good ole manager tells me that back in the day when CVS did not allow CC for VR or giftcards, sales for CVS tanked really badly.
Then proceeds to ring up my VRs. |

That's my one fear about moving back to the Bay Area. There's far too much competition. :p

My first attempt at beans was unsuccessful today. None in stock...should be coming on the truck tomorrow. I was told this by a guy wearing a tie (a manager or assistant?). The youngish polo-wearing cashier next to him said "so and so said they deleted the SKU yesterday." The tie-wearer didn't comment and told me I could try back in a day or two.
Having read much of this thread, I assume the "deleted the SKU" comment is just one more of the untrue things people have been told about VR. At least, I hope that's the case and that I didn't completely miss the party. This is downtown Madison, WI, by the way. |
Folks are frustrating.
Store Manager at the local CVS said her system suggested they had ~60 VRs in the store but we could only find 1 (which was in the correct slot), so someone is coming and hiding these cards throughout the store. I'll try going back in the morning hoping she was successful in finding them now that she knows they are missing. |
Does anyone have some favorite drugstores in MD that would be willing to send me a PM? Don't want the VRs, just want to CC load Serve.
Thank you! |
CVS now $5k/day
Just tried to buy 2K worth in my local CVS. I've bought 2K at this exact store before. But this time he said there's a 1k limit, but tried to scan a third and it worked (obviously). But he didn't want to push his luck and scan the 4th because he might get a phone call. I asked him if it was CVS corporate or incomm, he said no- The DEA.
According to this cashier, the DEA closely monitors vanilla reload purchase in CVS because of both money laundering and the fact that terrorists used them to fund 9/11. The DEA closely also monitors money grams, western union, and all gift card purchases. Is this response common? I've never gotten it before. Really hoping this guy doesn't mess up this perfect CVS :( |

Thank you! That's what I'd say too. ;) |

Probably not. I'm guessing MS is spreading generally. In any case, I'm not that selfish, nor am I that worried. I only have one BB to feed and I imagine they'll be available again. It's most likely just a distribution problem.
CVS downtown is my go-to, since I work just a few blocks from the capital. I tend to zip over on delivery days after work. My GF has also gotten into the MS game, so she's also now a CVS shopper. We don't (and never did) play any of the games hiding stuff or trying to hoard, so hopefully you're not blaming me! Like you, I see this as there are many avenues to play the game, and 4 CVS in town. The others are more of a drive, but we're always out and about and just stop in (like rollin' the dice). It's a distribution problem. I've cultivated some nice-customer relationships with a few of the people, so I very much doubt they're mis-informing me when they say that they order them, but they simply aren't coming in. This is similar to a month ago, and a few months ago: just a supply dry-up. Not the end of the world doom and gloom, nor a pack of roving VR bandits wiping stores out. I've noticed the same as you: When VRs dry up, OVs start thinning out, too. Good thing for the VGCs at the new big grocery stores. ;) |

Hope it clears up soon for you! |

Ha ha, either that guy is lying or he is a very bad secret keeper. I'm pretty sure if the alphabets were watching the store, they would have told staff to keep mum.

Yeah, I'd like to know why I'm RIP. Did I just sabotage myself for giving CVS member card before buying VRs?
I just don't do it because I believe CVS kills an entire redwood tree just to print a single receipt. Those things are LOOOOOONG. |

Ha ha, I'm so sorry. I was just being overdramatic. There should be no reason to why using your CVS card would shut you down or anything at all. ^

I'm also in the Bay Area and have had trouble finding VRs recently. Yesterday I stopped by a CVS that has had them in the past, and nothing in the normal spot on the rack. However I decided to take a peek behind other cards, and sure enough, someone had hidden a whole stack of them. Geez..
