Good to know, I was thinking of buying VR on my Cash + card (to give the 5x TYP a rest and to get one of the last $25 bonuses on Cash Plus). But that would require purchase of 10VR this month, and it sounds like that might get blocked.

So they just stopped the transaction, you weren't asked to prove that you were you or something?

I would have replied 'do the transaction, call the police and arrest me afterwards' :D

Yes, we now have alternative to VRs. Visa/MC debit cards with PINs.

I got the block by USB too wore off after a few days and I think mixing amounts helps.

I found where someone had hidden about 10 VRs at my CVS. I believe that they were hidden because they disappeared a couple at a time. DC area.

I went 0 for 6 this morning at my local CVS stores :td:

VR's on a rack behind the counter at my closest CVS. Read that some people have observed this, but the first time I have seen this at a store. Bought one with no problem. Northern VA area.

I've been ok with VRs out here in the Southeast. I'm mixing in some gift cards too.

The CVS clerk was denied on a $1,000 charge, then a backup $500 charge. He was flustered and didn't give me the opportunity to speak with the bank rep, so I let the purchase drop. Outside, I called US Bank's fraud department and got an excellent rep who lifted the block and provided feedback that the computer might be sensitive to multiple large purchases at CVS, even if spaced over a couple of weeks.

I started out with 6 nearby CVS's that allowed VR purchases with a CC. I lost 2 stores about a month ago (they cited the typical "fraud issues") and apparently I lost another store yesterday. The cashier (a young 20-something guy) said he received word that morning for his store manager that VRs were debit or cash only from now on, then he looked around and said don't tell anyone and allowed me to buy $1k worth with a CC.

Interestingly, I didn't receive an "alternate payment method required" message for either of my $1k+ CVS purchases yesterday. On my previous run at these stores I received that message and had to swipe a second time to complete the transaction. I figured it was a POS hard-coding to prevent $1k+ transactions, but that is clearly not that case.

Things got a little weird for me in my area this past week. One of my 6 stores ran out with no idea when they're getting some more in. One store strictly applied the $1k a day limit per party (I was with one other person and she would not sell to them because we were together). Two other stores were $2k no problems. Last store I tried I got delayed for 15 minutes because Chase held it up with a fraud warning for some reason - probably duplicate transactions not too long apart. Funny part was what appeared to be the manager/supervisor was right there and sold me my second $1k while the cashier was on hold with Chase.

I need to call other stores to check if you havent purchased any VRs today. I am like sure.. so after waiting 10 mins, she is like ok, you can buy. This particular shift lead/manager is one arrogant lady...

How would she be able to check ALL the stores in the area...what are they keeping a running list or something??

Anyone else carry a few blanks with them just in case of a, well, "emergency?"

Wow, reminds me of high school, although the VRs get used a lot more frequently.
