So I went to a CVS that I normally visit during my lunch break and behold the shift lead/manager ( i know she is not the store manager) was like.. I need to call other stores to check if you havent purchased any VRs today. I am like sure.. so after waiting 10 mins, she is like ok, you can buy. This particular shift lead/manager is one arrogant lady...

When I bought VRs, maybe 80% of times they were hidden ones.

Very soon no body will want VRs because Visa Debit cards is gaining popularity and Currently Chase Visa has no cost delivered to your door.....People who are hung up on VR move on and to those hiding, 'its not worth it!'

But Chase GCs are capped at 2.5K per card and per month(I think). Also, only 1X or maybe 1.25X per $. vs other GC and VR where you can get 5X or more along with store/grocery/gas points.

You can still do 5X Hilton at Grocery stores. And there's ClubCarlson 5X everywhere and their last night free with CC.

I'm trying to do mostly Club Carlson as it's only 25K for say NYC or Chicago etc. They have 2 goods resorts, St Maarten and Aruba.

Is it possible to buy a VR with a CVS gift card?

deant May 11, 2013 6:53 pm

Not possible

If you have a wells fargo PMA checking account you can get a wells credit card for 5x cash back at drugstores for 6 months, 3x for ppl without a PMA acct.

I highly recommend the PMA account cause you get 100 free stock trades a yr. You need 25K in all your wells accts. 10% of mortgages work to that 25K.

Not for everyone, but it is very unknown

https://www.wellsfargo.com/credit_cards/rewards/

Our most popular credit card now offers triple rewards points on gas, grocery and drugstore net purchases1 for 6 months, a low introductory purchase APR and tools to help you manage your spending all for no annual fee

0% intro APR for 6 months on purchases and balance transfers

Has anyone able to pay the activation fee with "extra rewards bucks" ?

I would have replied 'do the transaction, call the police and arrest me afterwards' :D

Tough to Buy VRs

Struck out again on my attempt to purchase VRs at CVS. Four or five Bay Area stores didn't have any (just prepaids), three had them but didn't accept credit cards for any prepaids, and I was finally about to complete a purchase today but my bank (US Bank) declined the charge because it was a repeat of a similar charge for prepaids two weeks ago at another CVS, "and we've had fraud issues especially at CVS and Walgreens."
