The point of this forum is to EXCHANGE infomation, the question you asked no one had an answer, so then go out find out if it works, if it does then come back and lets us all know.

Each of us brings a different level of playing to the game, not all angles have been tried.

I guess I was not expecting the condescending douchey attitude that so many old timers here have.

I was quite planning on trying it myself if I did not get an answer. I did not think that no one at all on this topic has tried or had experience.... especially since everyone followed this thread and read it in the short time between I posted and you responded with your original message.

I am done with this topic, you and the thread. I really do not want to interact with people who show such Internet muscle and "kindness" to others.

Question guys. Can we use CVS gift cards to buy VR and others?

I have an opportunity to burn some of wifey's citi points for 10% discount on CVS.

No, U cannot use Gift card or Money card (store credit) to buy any other gift cards, registers are coded and doubt any one can overide it. I had tried few years back. It may be different today.....

People who do not like any question asked here, please learn to ignore it, move on and lose the egos, attitude and any complex. Your comments like
1. Go search newbie.
2. Go try it yourself
3. no spoon feeding
is non contributory to the thread, disrespectful and disregard of everyone's time. If U have an urge to tell him do it in private message. ;)

Agree to this. I've tried it more recently and it's a no-go. Even with my CVS's where the employees aren't sure with the entire deal (so I usually get more out of them)... Bummer because you can often get their GC's cheap.

I totally agree with this. And everyone should give time for their question to be answered because within a day or so someone else could come across happy to answer and share their experience. Not everyone is going to be able to answer every single question, that's why we have this community!

^ btw -you only get attitude when you allow someone; tell them to stfu and you will notice the change in attitude :)

Poster didn't ask to be spoon fed, only asked a question. You make an unwarranted assumption.

How many of you have had success purchasing MPs with Credit at CVS?
The stores in the city won't sell any GCs for credit, but I haven't had issues at the suburban stores. The one or two times I tried for MPs was told cash only - but VRs were fine with credit. Just wanting to feel out if this tends to be a manager discretion thing, or if their stores are more hard-coded for MPs cash only.

No cvs i know will sell mps to a cc. Other retailers might but not cvs around me.

Be really careful with those things! Never buy more than $2k worth in any single transaction and if the clerk messes up and has to void or back it out and start over, grab new ones to buy as those mps are now dead soilders!!

Also, do write some notes on the cards that correspond to the receipt as green dot products do not have anything to reference each card like incomm/bancorp products do.

Good luck. I avoid monkey paks now as greendot is scammy by nature and even worse than bancorp in rectifying things. Youll see

I never attempted to purchase MPs at CVS, but always heard they were cash only. You may have better luck at RAs. I've had success at pretty much all of them, they vary in how much per transaction you can purchase.

This mornings Walgreens ad showing free five dollar Walgreen gift card with purchase of two
Vanilla visa gift cards. Manager hadn't a clue but gave me a gift card. Did not come up automatically. Got two five hundred variable loads with 4.95 fee each, so basically one with fee and one without. Did a second run without any difficulty before I left the store.

Fine print says: good on next purchase. Points are not earned if store credit or redemption dollars are used in a transaction and cannot be redeemed on some items. (Think this refers to their Balance Rewards program)

I was able to buy 2 $500 Vanilla Visa GCs today with a CC at the nearest Walgreens, but the offer wasn't coded into the register so they had to manually issue me a $5 Walgreens GC. It's re-loadable, but I don't know why I would.

I echo these sentiments. MPs don't load as quickly as VRs. Plus, hate GD products on the whole due to poor customer service. I was locked out of my online account and they wanted me to fax in my life's story. No thanks.

Tried MPs @ CVS. Wont go through even with real (BOA/Citi/UFB/ST) debit card, let alone CC.

Marathon Man Jan 27, 2014 12:40 pm

Anything that needs you to fax to it is bad

Fico2Go Jan 27, 2014 3:06 pm

Unfortunately CVS and drug stores aren't always the highest paying reward places for me. And those places that do payout more it's like a hit and miss.
