What's the significance of loading $498? To avoid an ID scan?
Off topic: while there at CVS, check for T-Mobile 665 phone, on clearance for $6.24. Very nice backup/grandma phone. |
Looks like I missed a bit on this thread...

I have been using VRs on and off for a while, but several months ago every CVS I visited in Las Vegas went to cash only. After being in L.A. over the weekend and seeing how easy it was to buy them, I am putting it out there if anyone in Las Vegas has had any success buying VRs at CVS locations lately with a credit card.
The latest post I saw was from July, but there doesn't seem to be much information about availability in this thread. Late last year they were quite easy to get, but that tightened towards the beginning of this year. Like I said before, I have not visited every location in the Vegas area, but none of the several that I have visited have changed their policy back. |

I wonder how they were noticed though (not this case in particular). Are members telling on them or mods read and found out? |

Nay, it was the same old arguments. And, filled with long quotes one after another wasting server space (hehehe, I'm not tying to 'offend' anybody. The fact is the topic went way way off. Went so bad that mod had to do some work).
I wonder how they were noticed though (not this case in particular). Are members telling on them or mods read and found out? Interesting... Anyway, good news. One of the stores I used to frequent got a new manager after the old one (really cool guy) passed away. I strolled in the other night and was greeted by a cashier that has proceeded 6 figures worth of VRs for me this year. He sees me and mentioned that the new manager told him that the GCs would be cash only. So I left without incident as I knew the staff and they knew me so there was no reason to go through the song and dance. The new manager was from another district and I guess they do things a little differently there. Feeling emboldened by my last victory I went in hoping to have a talk with him tonight. He wasn't there but an assistant manager, with whom I had experience with, was there. I told her that the cashier had mentioned that the new manager didn't seem familiar payment options for GCs. So what she did was call HQ and ask what the current policy was for payment on VRs. She knew what they were but wanted to check for any changes. She got confirmation for HQ and allowed the sale. More importantly she said she would inform the new manager that this was HQ's policy as she called to verify herself. ^ Why can't every MOD be this awesome? Most important bit of news I want to share with you folks is regarding the issue with the reload supply. I went my closest 2 stores which had been out for weeks. Today was the delivery day so its the best time to go and see if any reloads came in. At the first location I got no joy...none came in. I always ask if they can order me some even though most of the time they say they cant. This time the MOD said they have some on order but the warehouse must be out of them. Hummm... interesting. I never thought the reloads and GCs where stored at a central CVS warehouse... When I got to the next CVS I saw the MOD that's pretty cool stocking the new items up on the shelf. I walked up to him and asked if they got any in. He said no and that he made it a special point to order them specifically but none arrived. Apparently they can go around the store with their scanner gun and scan the barcodes of items that are low in stock and mark them for reorder. He said he did the for the reloads but they didn't come in. He then went behind the counter and went through the bag of cards that did come in. No reloads. He then mentioned something that I heard about a few weeks back. He said this happened before with the Greendots. There was a time (here in Atlanta) when there were no GDs to be found... ANYWHERE. This episode reminded him of that situation. I think stores that have them - have them because they haven't sold out yet (low churn turnout). Stores that dont, can't get new ones in for some reason. |

I would be happy to supply the store manager with the CVS HQ corporate number so they can clear up the company policy regarding VR cards purchase. Today went to the very same store where I was told "cash only". Different shift. No problem at all buying VRs w/CCs. I am getting tired of the BS from the self imposed politicians at CVS. |

ALL the CVSs around me don't have VRs the last couple of days. Is something up? Like 6/8 ALWAYS have and now not a single one. Is there something going on?

Someone mentioned that a GC rep comes by and restocks the racks ever so often but VRs are not one of the products they handle. The reloads are delivered on the weekly truck. And if what the managers say is to be believed, they cannot order more manually. |
I have had plenty of success with buying VRs at CVS. I haven't had any issues mentioned here yet. I purchase in GA, VA, & MD.

Two questions, thanks...
1. Is there any advantage to presenting your CVS loyalty card if all you're buying is the VR? 2. Has anybody tried to buy a Moneypak with CC there? |

Just bought some card from CVS. I thought I bought the VR card, but I looked closely now it in fact is OneVanilla prepaid visa. Are they the same? If not, can still use it to load the bluebird?

Yes, if a WM is near you. If not, go to a grocery store and buy MO. |
