Good theory. I'm still going strong with no issues.
Can I ask you this do U have more then 1 MVD card? And if you do is the total from all the cards in 1 persons name more then the max they allow on any 1 card? eg total per month is $8k you dont unload $8k in any 1month from 1 card but you have 2 cards and unlaod $10k between the 2 or you unload $6k between the 2 all my cards under the 2 different persons names in total always exceeded the max that is allowed for 1 card but under the max allowed for both eg #1 unloaded $5k and #2 unloaded $4500 both under the max per card but $1500 over had it been on 1 card. As I posted up thread each card I used a different email address but they changed all the accts to whatever was the last email address used Trying to figure out if they are now adding up all the amounts on all the cards and will shut you down if you exceed the max allowed on 1 card even thou its spread out over 2 or 3 cards. Thinking about getting card #2 under my friends info but dont want to get everything shut down and hunt for friend #2 to get back into biz |

Working beautifully, thanks to you. If you make a trip back out this way, we'll make a field trip out of it!
2 in my name, 1 in wife's. My second one was used moderately in the past, but not right now... sitting idle in case needed later. The primary ones for each of us are kept under the limits. Been doing roughly $4K in, $4K out on each, spread out, milk/soda purchases for fee generation in between. Using CAs never exceeding $2K each. Good hypothesis. Let us know what you conclude, please! And good luck! If MVD didnt change the email address on my #2 to the one I used for my #3, I wouldnt have thought they are now looking at all the cards, so the $8 max per week isnt $8k per card but $8k for all cards combined, using the same SS # Only 1 card did I exceed their limits, yet after that was closed down I did in fact exceed their limits if you combine what I unloaded on both sets of cards (#2 & #3 and #1 & #2 under a different persons name) yet each card by itself the unloads were below their max limits. Thats why I think if a person didnt exceed their limits (like you it seems) when combining all the amounts they are still Active, if the total of all of a persons cards exceed MVDs max limits then they were/are shut down |
I am still going on the card. I don't do CA. I just load it up and pay taxes once per quarter. I'll get a sense in April if there are new limits. I never do anything different. Just use it to get the 3.95 debit card rate for paying taxes. I may have tried a few MOs early last year. Maybe I will experiment with some loads later this month in anticipation of April to see if loading puts me in spend down.
By the way, what is the "max" that people are talking about? |

Curious about the 'max' also. I didn't get on this ship when it sailed, and some would probably say that is a good thing! But if a fella wanted to utilize MVD now, do we have a collective sense about what the best way to do so would be? Could someone point me to the number of a key post(s) in this monsterthread where the current wisdom is summed up?

Hi all - I'm a newbie here and just want to ask some questions about the MVD...
I have some vanilla reload cards which I just want to cash them out quickly, but bluebird only have 5k monthly limit. I live far from a walmart so that's not a good option for me. Can I just load 5 vanilla reload cards to MVD and then go to a bank branch for cash advance (and I pay 1.95 fee)? Is that normally what people do? Also, if I spend 503.95 for a vanilla reload, then I load it at vanillareload.com to MVD, will I credit MVD 500, or will MVD charge me another 3.95 or 4.95 on top of that? Thanks! |

This would work, but such a hit-and-run might cause the card to be shut down, so only do it that way if you don't care about being shut down. If you want to keep doing it monthly, slow down and let the money sit a little, use the card to buy milk or something similar to generate a fee, and don't CA over $2K at once. Keep your total flow among all MVD cards you own below the published limits, combined (this is Craz' working theory).
No, they'll charge you the $1.95 only, not another fee. |
time to pour one out for my homies. I loaded 5x500 in one day on MVD #2 and 1x500 on MVD #3 last week and let them sit. checked today and I'm unable to login. Called in to confirm that I'm in spend-down. I was hoping to experiment with my final two MVDs to see if loading one per day would be sustainable versus going full tilt. apparently they flagged my account with the scarlet letter and it was only a matter of time.
For what it's worth, I believe I pumped > $100k through 4 MVDs (3 me, 1 wife) before being shut down. Good thing there are > 3 other options right now. |

If anything having more then 1 can get you shut down quicker if you make a mistake with your math. Which you probably wont do if all you use is 1 MVD Unknown is if you have 1 MVD and they shut it down will they allow a 2nd MVD to be opened. You can purchase the starter card (temp) but cant load anything more then the initial load till its registered. It would be great if they allowed a 2nd or 3rd |
is there any fee to close account? I cannot access to my account. I think it is shut down. Can I still do CA on it to unload all my money? This is the second one. The first one is shut down a week ago and I was able to unload all my money 2 days ago. For the second one, I haven't tried yet cuz it is evening now. I will try to unload tomorrow.

This adds to my theory that the limits arent per MVD but all MVDs that are attached to the same SS#. In '13 I loaded 2 MVDs with 5 @ $500 in 1 day no shut down. In '14 they shut you down once you exceed $2500 combined in 1 day which means having more then 1 MVD isnt gonna help you like it did before 1/1/14.

MVD
My experience: Got first MVD last August and did one CA about $2500 and then bill pay in walmart totally about 10k until this Jan. Yesterday I cannot log in. There are about $50 dollar left there. Just got second card with $500 inside and want to wait and see.

What is the $8k number and where does it come from? |
