totally useless card with high fees. Was able to load for free (3 cards) for months with ov at WM, that changed 2 months ago. Now 3.74!! they do know how to treat poor people!! I have been stuck with about 7.00 on each card. So this weekend I will go to Shoprite grocery store and use them in the self serv lane to buy Chicken of Sea tuna at .88. Limit 4. Plus .50 card fee.. I ll stock up and then sock drawer the cards. Definitely the worst of bunch. At least AFT allows a free ATM WD 1x per month of $400.00 plus ATM fee.

My card was put in spend down mode. Went to WM to buy MO. Purchase decline. I called and they said that once the card has been set to spend down mode the card is "converted" to a gift card (but you are not able to use PIN). For all practical reasons I can now only spend down in credit mode. I did not know it was legal to convert a debit card to a non-PIN gift card! I can always have them send a check and pay $9.99.

Can MVD temp cards be used for cash advance at a bank or MO purchase at the Post Office without registering the card to your SS number. I have been shut down once after CVS went out of business but now need a little MS to meet the Citi Exec spend threshold.

Is there any consequence if I don't close my accounts? The site say there is a dormant fee of 3.95 per month after 90 days but it doesn't state whether the fee is still applied if you already have a zero balance.

I wondered the same thing, but I think they'd just suspend your account if you go into a negative balance situation. It probably works like a Visa gift card. I called Incomm to close my accounts - the ones they hadn't closed for me that is :D - to cover my bases.

Sorry, i have not kept up with recent changes.
Can this card be used to buy Money Order at Bank or WalMart?
If yes, then will it be $0.50 fee for pin transaction?

Yes, it's usually $0.50 at grocery stores. Just be aware that some places like the Post Office code as a cash advance, so it results in a $1.95 transaction fee. The size of the transaction doesn't matter; it's a flat fee per transaction.

Stopped in at my usual place to buy OVs that will code as gas, and they just added these MVs. The sticker price is only $2.95.

1) Is it still operative that you can call and say you want to give it as a gift and set the pin without registering ?

2) Will it then function in the same way as a an OV, as a debit card with pin ?

If you do not use your card for more then 3 months, they will charge you monthly fee of $3.95 starting fourth month even if balance is $0. If you reload card after 4th month, the fees will be automatically deducted from your balance.
Best option is to close account for now. Open new accounts when you want to reuse.

Oh no. Did that actually happen to you?

I opened and emptied my account after the $50 CVS promotion. Now you're saying I have a negative balance (that they'll try to collect?). I stupidly thought the account would just close.

If you can still set the pin without registering by saying it's a gift (which was my question), they can't charge you anything and there's nothing to 'close', as it was never 'open'.

I was told by customer service that they will charge accumulated inactivity fee when you reload your account. I would think if you close account without reload, there is nothing to take away from your account. You may be open new account later when you need it.

Good luck in finding a store that'll accept CCs for VRs.
