SOS Help Needed
So in recent months, I've been able to liquidate TEMPORARY MVDs by calling and "setting a PIN for one-time use". This does not allow credit transactions, and supposedly only allows debit transactions.
Cool. Well, I seem to be stuck with 4x$500 MVDs. -Tried WM MoneyCenter (cashier) - tender invalid -Tried Walgreens OV purchase - tender invalid -Tried Citi Debit CC payment - Declined -Tried buying VRs at a known working source - Declined Still going to try CVS for OVs with them, as I was able to about 3 weeks ago, but expecting the worst. IF I absolutely cannot liquidate them, what can I do with InComm? Can I have them mail me a check for the balance? I do NOT have the original receipts. They are NOT registered, but they ARE active (I COULD make a non-GC PIN purchase (apparently?) if I wanted to. Really in a pinch here. Not looking for a lecture, I know the risks of MS. Any help greatly appreciated! P.S. Yes, I know there's a search function and old data points, and as we all know, InComm likes to shuffle the cards (no pun intended) on a pretty frequent basis |

Thanks for your advice. I called back and tried to work with a CSR for a second time. The front line agent was unhelpful (though friendly). This time, however, the agent was able to work with a supervisor whom I was told contacted the compliance department. After a 15-20 minute wait, I was informed that the Compliance Dept agreed to put my card back into Spend Down mode to withdraw the funds.
Points of advice: 1) Emphasize you do not keep receipts or the physical reload cards, as this is not required in their terms of service. 2) Refused to provide your SSN due to privacy concerns. 3) I indicated I was willing to share my DL to prove my identity, only as a tool to show that I was trying to be helpful. 4) Request the agent work with a supervisor/compliance detailing the details of your situation. The last activity I had on my MVD card was back in mid April, more than a month ago. I had no idea my card had been shut down until a few weeks ago when I couldn't log in and called to find out that was the case. They told me I needed to send in my DL, SS card, and proof of purchase of the VRs that I loaded the MVD with. I do have all these items but am rather mad about having to provide this. I have 344.xx left on the card that I would like to just liquidate. I spoke to 1 supervisor (who was a bit of an a$$) said if I didn't provide my SS card they will not unlock the account. I was never aware if the card was in spend down mode because I was never told I that. I tried to request a CSR to change it but was unsuccessful. I'm contemplating the advice given and see if it would work, but I'm also considering going down the FDIC route. Any other advice regarding this situation would be much appreciated. |

The Walgreens OV attempt is a non-pin transaction. You could try it at a gas pump to see if there is a hold. This happened to me with a temporary Serve card. I had to call in to get the hold removed. Actually, three calls. The first two said the hold was removed, but it wasn't. Serve cs is fine. MVD cs sucks. I wouldn't want to be dealing with them. I wouldn't buy temp. MVD cards even a zero fee. |
Over 3 weeks already and still no resolution to my case. I even filed a FDIC complaint last week.

Will try OV purchase at Walgreens again I think. I only tried 1/4 cards. |
Has anyone actually sent in copies of their DL, SS card, and copies of the VR receipts as they requested? I'm really debating if it's worth doing for the $3xx.xx I have remaining on the card. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've been thinking about getting an MVD, hitting it hard as hell, and once it gets locked, going to their headquarters to complain and seeing what happens, sort of as an experiment as an experiment. I can always file an FDIC complaint. I just wonder how they would react, and what their procedure is, to an angry customer in their corporate lobby. Bancorp's headquarters is located literally 2 minutes from my house. My high school girlfriend and I used to "park" in that office complex late at night after everyone went home. ;):D
Though being from Wilmington, DE, pretty much every bank's CC division is located within a relatively short drive from where I live. Or maybe I'll just go in there and ask the receptionist where I can buy some VRs with a CC. :D:cool: |

Many people have & they end up shutting you down anyway. I'd say just spend it off & be done with it; not worth the headache.

I would absolutely do that but if my account is shut down will I be able to spend it? I tried to pay citi via debit payment and that was unsuccessful so I assume my funds are locked?

If the account is in spend down mode then get the money out either via CA or MO. If you don't do this within a few days of being placed in spend down mode then your account will be locked.

How would I know if it's in spend down mode? I believe the account has been locked for weeks now.

Just looking into MyVanilla and won't be reading through 217 pages. Can you guys tell me if VGCs can be liquidated through this (I'm thinking of loading and making large purchases with the MyVanilla), and what are the common reasons for getting an account locked?

My MVD account is "suspended" according to the CSR. I need to send them my Driver's license, copy of the MVD card, copy of the purchase receipt of the Vanilla Reloads, and copy of load receipts (don't see how this is possible). Is there any issue about providing this information? Have any of you done this or is it better to complain to FDIC?
