:

I don't consider MVD with 50 cent swipe fees useful since there are zero fee options available.

VR using CC?

I have trouble finding VR using CC. Most of them in my area won't allow using CC for purchasing VR. Would someone please PM me if you know where we can get it using CC?

Thanks

quick

Account suspended with my last $2500 when I checked on 5/8.

After the run-around on receipts (see other posts), filed complaint with FDIC and State Dept of Banking (I'm in Texas FWIW).

Got a call yesterday telling me my account was back to Spend Down.

Went ahead and CA'd the final amount today.

I'm done with these jokers-- but further proof you'd be helping others out AND it's probably faster to go ahead and complain to regulators if you want your funds back.

With VR available for cash only now, I called MVD to close my account. Not worth inactivity fee or pay $0.50 per swipe without VR.

I waived fraction of a dollar remaining on the account so that I did not have to pay $9.95 for refund check.

If anything changes in future, I plan to apply for new card

Cool, didn't realize this option existed for these things. Sounds like you've had good success draining the temp cards with this method - do the CSRs give you the third degree when you try to set the pin? I've been desperately searching for a way to MS Discover and Freedom next quarter at gas stations with the loss of OV at Speedway, but MVD may still be an option there if it can be easily drained.

take note those places that have their regs hard coded against the VRs have it hard coded against the MVD temp cards as well

If you take no action to close the account, will they automatically put you in spend down mode if the inactivity fee kicks in and the balance goes negative? I'm worried that such a scammy company might try to collect on accumulated dormancy fees. I guess since VRs aren't coming back, it's best to close down the cards.

They are still holding my money. What information do you include when filing the complaint? Simply they are holding my money?

I'm assuming you're filing an FDIC complaint? If so state that they shut down your account arbitrarily without cause. To be even more of a pain, demand interest for the time that your money was frozen. :D

They won't release my money until I send in the receipt for every reload card I loaded to this card.

Definitely file the FDIC complaint online. You can call MVD and play hardball before you do it. Ask them to place the account in spend down mode then cash out.

mimixbox May 20, 2014 7:45 pm

My account status is active but they reversed over $3000 and won't credit it back until I send in every receipt for every reload card ever loaded. I still have a balance on the card due to a refund from a previous purchase and the card can still be used regularly.

I already sent in a couple receipts. They said the receipts I sent in only total about $1000 so they will only credit back $1000. This is ridiculous.

File the FDIC complaint. You can call them at 877-ASK-FDIC as well between 8 am and 8 pm ET. If they won't play ball, you have little recourse.

They locked me out of about $2k on a card that had been sitting idle for about a month (my mistake...). Called them 5/16/14 to figure out what was wrong. Got the same run around re: receipts, images of cards, SSN and DL. Filed a complaint with the FDIC immediately following the call, but have not yet heard from them.

When I was last locked and was asked for this info I said simply I dont have it and cant get it. Once the VR was loaded online and said it went thru I threw away the VR and I never keep any CC receipts. No where in any info sent to me or online dd your company say I must retain both the VR and its receipt, had you I would have. most VRs I told them were purchased when I was out of town and have no way to know which was purchased where and when.

End result the csr sent it to some dept and they put me in spend down, which was all I wanted anyways

Ive said many times dont jump 1st to the FDIC, try to work it out with whatever company 1st. When NS wasnt willing to do anything I went to the FDIC, thats the only time even thou Ive runned into many Blocks. Besides it got me my $$$ alot faster as well

Thanks for your advice. I called back and tried to work with a CSR for a second time. The front line agent was unhelpful (though friendly). This time, however, the agent was able to work with a supervisor whom I was told contacted the compliance department. After a 15-20 minute wait, I was informed that the Compliance Dept agreed to put my card back into Spend Down mode to withdraw the funds.

Points of advice:
1) Emphasize you do not keep receipts or the physical reload cards, as this is not required in their terms of service.
2) Refused to provide your SSN due to privacy concerns.
3) I indicated I was willing to share my DL to prove my identity, only as a tool to show that I was trying to be helpful.
4) Request the agent work with a supervisor/compliance detailing the details of your situation.
