Personally, I am always using the tunnel from A/Z to B et conversely. And if you are lucky, your flight from will dock at B. It happened to me a few times recently flying from the states.

Just a quick Q for those in the know about FRA. It will be my first time transferring at the airport and I was slightly confused by the guide when it comes to bus gates.
So I'm arrive from LHR (LH917) into FRA and connecting onto TUN (LH1326) this Thursday with a connection time of 1h10min (which seems more than adequate considering it's non-Schengen to non-Schengen). I'm seeing on LH.com that the gate posted shows me arriving into a bus gate, A terminal (ANS) and that my Tunis flight leaves from gate B31 (another bus gate, I believe).
Does anyone know how long this connection should take, and whether I would have to clear security in FRA? I see further upthread that arrivals from the UK are considered 'clean' but also some evidence within the thread that although that is the case, certain connections always require one to re-clear security. I'm also assuming I won't have to go through passport control as it's non-Schengen to non-Schengen?
Thanks for the help!

In short there is no way you can connect from ANS to B31 without re-clearing security. If you have an EU/biometric passport it might be quicker to go to the top of the escalator, go through security, go down two levels and through passport control to A Schengen, go down the lift by gate A15, walk through the tunnel and go through passport control into B non-Schengen. If you are not careful you might end up having to clear security twice!

Using the tunnel when connecting from B non-Schengen to A is only possible by almost entering the public area and turning back through security and walking passed gates B10-13. It used to be possible to go through security to B Schengen then to the tunnel at the bottom of the escalator after passport control but that route has been closed for years.

Welcome to the LH forum and the labyrinth aka Frankfurt Airport. Arrivals from the UK are considered 'clean' but only when you arrive at certain gates (Z or AEUW). ANS is indeed a bus gate at the bottom of A/Z concourse and B31 is a bus gate in non-Schengen B concourse. Unfortunately there is no way to connect to non-Schengen B gates without re-clearing security unless you arrive in A (Schengen) and walk through the tunnel or arrive in Z (clean arrival from US or UK), go through passport control to A and walk through the tunnel.

Thanks for the welcome and the quick reply! I had a sneaking suspicion this would be the case! Makes for an excitingly quick transfer I think, provided that the gates stay as what they are! I'll be sure to come back and report my experience.

I have experience of arriving at every possible gate in FRA from the UK with the exception of AEUW (usually early morning flights) but I have no experience of connecting from ANS (A non-Schengen bus gate) to B non-Schengen. The escalators from ANS take you up to the unclean Z arrival level where you are directed to transfer security. I don't believe you can go to the Skyline shuttle platform from this level without going through security first. However, the Skyline shuttle itself is 'unclean' so on arrival in B you will have to clear security (again). The Skyline shuttle is the only way you can move between Z and B without entering Schengen but I have not travelled between Z and B in recent years (only B to Z ) and cannot tell exactly what to expect. About a week ago I did arrive on the Z (unclean) arrival level but after security I went through passport control down to A and did not use the Skyline shuttle.
I'd certainly be interested in hearing how you find your way from ANS to B31 if these are indeed your gates. Gate assignments can and do change at any time.

LH/AC connection
Having decided to forgoe the pleasure of a connection at LHR this summer, reading some of the posts here, I wonder if that was a wise move! In any case I'm booked on MAN-FRA-YVR, LH to FRA and AC on the FRA-YVR leg. The connection time is 1hr 20mins which originally I thought sounded more than enough. Would anyone like to say whether that is right or am I being wildly optimistic?!
I realise that much will depend on what gates are in use, but from a bit of nosing around I *think* that AC tend to use B gates at FRA. From what I can glean from others on here, it's not unusual for LH flights from the UK to arrive at B gates too. Would that make a difference in my case or is there still some passport/security checks going to be involved no matter?
Would welcome any thoughts if anyone was kind enough to share.

Yes, AC flights usually depart from B where the Maple Leaf Lounge is located and LH flights from the UK usually arrive in B as well. But are you sure you are flying FRA-YVR on Air Canada? The only flight from FRA to YVR I can find is AC9101 which is a codeshare LH flight LH492. Or are you on connecting AC flights?
Even if LH492 it usually departs from a B gate but I'm asking because the early morning flight from MAN (LH949) often arrives at AEUW (a bus gate at the bottom of concourse A which allows passengers to enter the terminal behind security) except when I'm on it! It is very convenient if you are connecting to A or Z departures but not so convenient for B gates as you will have to go over to B either by going through passport control twice (but no security) via the tunnel or by taking the Skyline shuttle to B and going through transfer security - one of the many anomalies of FRA. If the flight from MAN arrives in B you only need to go through transfer security.
Whichever way 1hr 20mins should be enough for this connection.

Thanks for that really helpful reply - I appreciate it! That sounds like a reasonably straightforward process.
Yeah, it is Air Canada. It's a codeshare LH6526 (otherwise known as AC841). I wasn't overly concerned about the connection because, if worse did come to the worse, as you point out, there is always LH492 that departs a few hours later. In any case, it's good to have a rough idea of what to do on arrival. Thank you :-)

Hello Quick question - just noticed that my flight will depart from C14 pier; Arriving with LH from ARN so it will probably by A pier. Only have 1:30min.
I am a little confused. Arriving schengen - going to C14 South America. Do I have to go though security? And, is the skytrain my best option? Where will passport control be Pier A before taking the skytrain or at C-pier?)
Thank you - I though 1:30 would be fine (wrongly assumed my flight would depart from B.. .but no - It is C... bummer!

Well, somehow the signs put me from A to C doing the walk+schlepp path -- security is at the end of the main building before entering the long hallway out to C13-20
(likely I missed some "split" signage C vs C13+? )
Yet, when I did A to Z lately (where Skyline runs) there is only passport control (on A-Level before stairs up to Z).
And on the return, landing C20 connecting at A24 - did it within 50min with Skyline taken.

I will let you know tomorrow. I can see that I arrive at A23 and then have to go to C15. I'll try the skytrain (from a map I can see that stop is around A16) and then get of the C at C-pier. Don't want any delays in the inbound flight... Thanks for your reply PAX_fips and Newbierunner.

I have a 6 hour connection coming up in a few months in FRA. Is it possible to get into the city in that time??
Also wondering if anyone has used LH porche rental offer. I don't think I'll do it but am excited to know what you did?
