Personal preference, but I too would be found upstairs on the window.

Have a quick question, and was not able to get a clear answer on the thread:

On the 744s, did LH totally remove the F cabin and install J seats, or do the old F seats / newer F seats still exist? I am talking about the routes on 744, where F cabin is not on sale.

On a trip I am looking, I have the choice of both the main deck and the UD. And, I was wondering which would be best?

Same seats everywhere. The F seats have been removed from the B744 a long time ago

UD or nose depends on your preference. A lot of information is available in this thread to help you decide.

Wanted to get some quick seat thoughts from the more experienced flyers out there - I'll be flying the 744 from PHL to FRA in Business Class - family of 3 (wife and a 5yo boy). Right now we have one of those middle trio of seats up front, lower level (10D, 10E, 10G) - i liked the idea of grouping us all together in one section for wrangling and sleeping. That particular row is up against the bulkhead and Seat Guru mentioned those seats could be a little smaller than normal - is that the case? I liked that row b/c no one is in front of us, felt a little more private - so if my son makes any noise or gets ancy (he's actually an all star traveler) the impact will be minimized. But, I guess I don't want to lose several inches of legroom (I'm 6'3") as a result... Any other thoughts on good place to sit for family of 3?

So, made the (possibly) dubious decision to fork out for business class, MAN -> PVG in two months time*. Both long haul aircraft are something of a surprise: A340 flying out and a 747-400 on the return. I haven't been on either aircraft in donkeys’ years. Can I expect in seat entertainment to play on a loop? Anyway: the 747. Currently I have seat 3C selected, but could/should I be doing better than this? One small concern I have is the overhead bin space. I’ll be bringing on board my Aerolite plus two camera bags.

* Expedia came up with a decent enough price to dissuade me from going for bargains ex BRU.

The seats and entertainment system on the A343 and B744 are identical and were fitted in 2012-14.

Sitting in the nose of the B744 is an experience. If there is not enough space in the overhead you can use the cabinet in the bulkhead.

Many thanks. I will leave my seat selection as it is.

Flying the PHL-FRA trip in a few weeks w my wife. Currently have 85 H K but noticed 1 A C is available for us. Seems like both are decent options, so for those of you who have done both which is the better choice? Thanks

LH 747-400 Business Class Seats

Aside from 1A and 1K, are there any other window seats on the LH 747-400 that provide a similar view forward that you don’t get on other aircraft?

I don’t normally fly business let alone on a 747, but 1A and 1K are both taken right now (LH 471 on 2/15), so wondering what my next best window option is. Currently I’m on the upper deck.

No, unfortunately not.

For or many people, upper deck is special, too.

LH 747-400 Row 1 vs Upper Deck

I am a solo traveller planning on flying LH 747-400 business class. I am having a hard time choosing between seat 1K for the forward facing view or upper deck.

4D

Most people prefer the UD, a bit more quiet. I don't really care, both are 2-2 configs where I avoid the window seat. Just take a note, that on the UD the lavs are in the front of the cabin (before row 81), the galley in the back (behind 86). On the main deck, the lavs are behind row 4, the galley at row 4.

4D would have been ideal but it is not available right now. I am a window seat lover so I would not have picked an aisle seat. I am leaning towards 1K but the fact that row 1 seems so cramped might make me pick upper deck instead. hmm

1A and K are (or feel) even more narrow and claustrophobic on the 744 than the other seats. Avoid. Sit UD no questions.
