The list above is missing China Southern's daily A380 -

CZ327 which arrives around 7PM during DST (still plenty of daylight for plane spotting)

CZ328 which departs around 12AM during DST (definitely no daylight )

Low-Flying Planes Landing At LAX Today

I was driving down Sepulveda today, and noticed planes making their final approach into LAX flying so low that I thought they would clip the In N Out Burger! Does anybody have any insight?

On the flip side, I timed it right: I got awesome, close-up views of both the QR and EYflights landing, and then a couple of hours later the BR and NZ flights!

Probably some sort of optical illusion - planes can't just randomly fly lower.

Yeah, probably a perspective thing - they should always be about the same height going over Sepulveda, and given that you're about 1000' from the end of the runway they're really low there. Try walking over the Vicksburg bridge to Lot C when planes are coming in - they'll seem *really* close.

I remember vividly the first time I saw a 747. I was getting out of my VW Bus in the parking lot behind a store under the short final flight path of one of the LAX runways. Not being used to the size of those beasts, I thought it was about to land on my head -- which I proceeded to bash against the top of the door frame. That smarted.

Plane watching from LAX In & Out

If you love planes and have some extra time around LAX check out the views from In & Out Burger - aka Airplane Landing View Point. Great place to hang out to watch the planes fly by and a lot of A380's and other jumbo jets!

Hi,
anyone here did the Star Helicopters air2air spotting tour?

I'm in LA next week for a few days and I'm wondering what is the best time to take it for the best views, eg. Tom Bradley with gates full of A380/747s and lots of exotic widebody traffic landing and taking off.

I scanned the schedule really quick, between 12:00-13:00 there is quite a lot of A380/747 traffic. Or do you have other recommendations?

If you scroll thru this thread, you will see that Imperial Hill offers good views of TBIT, and the park by In-N-Out has the best up close view of all the A380 and 747 landings on 24R.

The Proud Bird yard has good views of landings on 25L/R. You may get a couple of widebodies there. I spotted there a while ago and got a Nippon Cargo 748, SAS A340, and LH A380 in a row... it was quite an interesting 20 mins for 4 holer spotting.

Hi,
I think you missed the first line,

Otherwise, I haven't missed visit to the in-n-out single time when I had LAX layover, but this time I have a free free days in my schedule and I'd like to go for heli-spotting

So I'm looking for a busy time at the airport, to make it worth it

LAX Plane Spotting

I was looking forward to going to the proud bird again (last time it was with Corky!) with my boss tonight but I see they are only open from 11:30 to 7. WHY.
anyway does anyone know where else I can grab a drink and watch planes at LAX?

In-n-Out is great for plane watching, but obviously no booze. Encounter restaurant (in the theme building center of LAX; great views) closed a few years ago. They were looking for a new owner to open restaurant, but don't know that it occurred or if it did, if C-19 shut it down. Maybe some other LA people could post. Or peruse the Los Angeles forum to see if any suggestions there.

Cheers.

There used to be a strip club around there. I can find out the name if you are interested.
Why not go to Proud Bird around 5 or 6, have drinks for an hour at that outside patio where we sat and then go someplace else for dinner? Sunset is usually around 545 and they have been spectacular lately.
