Lands, thanks for the info. Do you remember if the name of the lounge was "Mizuya" that you were talking about at Mandalay that played the disco and the other night rock?

I think so. It's the circular one in the back, which I think is partially a sushi bar. I'm told it gets fairly busy late at night.

When I was there the crowd was going crazy - the rock band takes paid requests (that go along with a tip). Did some fun big hair rock and a fairly impressive 10 minute Van Halen medley... :D

We're not a cover band. We're a tribute band.

Luxor in Las Vegas - a bit rough...

After staying in the Las Vegas Luxor, its time to move on. The Luxor room was dusty day and night, like camping out;) If you leave out an item, you have blow off the dust by the end of the day. Probably stay elsewhere on the next trip.

As reflected by the rock bottom prices that have been popping up. Hotels in Vegas seem to be disposable.

Hi,

I stayed at the Luxor for 7 nights ( 15th-22nd November) as I ran the Las Vegas Half Marathon on Sunday.

Check in at 730pm on Friday was quick ( 5mins waiting) and was given 5350 in the East Tower.

The view was of the roof, the side of the pyramid and the other tower with a glimpse of the mountains in the distance.

Whilst the room is not the most modern it was clean and comfortable with good storage. The bathroom had a separate bath and shower. For the first few nights I could hear doors banging at 4am.

Walking from the casino to the elevators the corridor was a little narrow and with 90 degree turns you could not see people coming until close to the corner.

I went to the buffet for saturday breakfast ( $16, $17 for lunch and $22 for dinner). It was ok ( limited selection of fruit and the orange juice tasted weak- all the jucices/soda and hot drinks are self service). The Mandalay Bay breakfast ( $16 M-F) is much better value for money.

The fitness centre was good and used the spa for the Friday afternoon ( I had a 8pm flight) and for $15 I used the fitness room, sauna, steam room and the spa as well as the shower.)

It was good value for money although it is at the south end of the strip.

Regards
