In-Flight Internet?
Any news on Jetblue getting in-flight internet?
BetaBlue was announced with big fanfare but was never rolled out fleetwide.
GoGo seems to be growing on other airlines such as Virgin, AA, Delta,etc.

The Kiteline system is still on the timeline. It was originally supposed to be in pilot on some CO planes by now but it is delayed. The most recent public statement from CO has the Kiteline product in service around Q2 but there is no guarantee that will actually happen.

I think the reference to Southwest and TV was leaning more towards this functionality that AirCell announced:

They get into much better detail in the article ... but if I am reading correctly AirCell will cache content plane-side on a server which can then be watched using an "iTunes-like" application on a laptop PC running Windows.

On my friday flight 217 from JFK to LGB, we had CEO Dave Barger and Chief People officer Dave Clark.
They gave out free tickets during an in-flight trivia contest.
They also took questions and I asked about in-flight internet.
They said they get asked that question alot and that Beta Blue "just didn't work" but stay tuned because they will have something to announce in the near future.

LiveTV has instead decided to focus on Kiteline World with a trial hopeful by the end of the year. Here's the catch: Kiteline World is actually less bandwidth than the original Kiteline and JetBlue hasn't committed to trying it.
So JetBlue is pretty much back to square one. They have to pick a partner and a product and get it developed. I suppose they could try trading the ATG spectrum to Aircell in exchange for free service or something like that but it is anyone's guess right now.

We will no longer pursue this product as a connectivity solution for our Customers.

The success of BetaBlue and the positive Customer feedback we received during our trial continues to drive our commitment to remain relevant in the world of in-flight connectivity.
We believe strongly that basic connectivity will become an increasingly important part of our Brand and the JetBlue Experience. Our connectivity strategy has always been to provide a relevant, quality product that offers variety and freshness while taking a wait-and-see approach to this new technology space. We have been in contact with several companies to analyze all available opportunities for enhancing the Customer experience and expect to have more exciting news to share this summer.

The company has come out and said many times that they don't want to charge for internet. They see the internet as an extension of the TV's and Radio's and part of the experience and not as add-on as say the EML seats.
We are also changing our handheld devices that we use to charge for liquor and headsets and other onboard products. The new device will be a lot nicer and easier to use for us. It will also allow us to hand out reciepts to customers, issue refunds as well as sell food onboard. Those devices go live on the 5th.
