Follow up on my last post. Submitted everything a week ago and the vaccination part was still being reviewed for a week.
Deleted the trip plan and resubmitted my info but this time I uploaded a photo of my vaccination card plus a QR code from Walgreens. Walked away from my laptop and literally a minute later I got an email saying it was approved. :) |
Went through this process twice over the past 4 days to enter Japan.
As soon as you get off the jetbridge from the plane, they'll be looking for the screen with the blue/pink 2 boxes. Pink went in one direction; blue went the regular route. I'm not sure why people had the pink screen - because of some kind of rejection? Or they just didn't do the process in time. For the blue screen folks, someone will hand you a pink flyer entitled "health screening" or something. It's informational but don't throw it away until you are into the country. Keep flashing the blue screen until you get to immigration, where you scan the immigration QR code (with yellow bar) while you are speaking to the officer. After passing immigration, head to one of the several kiosks dotting the area (2 kiosks per column). There, you scan your customs QR code (blue bar) and passport, then follow directions on the screen. Get your checked bags (if any), then walk through the automated gate (no need to scan codes). That's it. |

Registered and got the bluebox.
However, I will be travelling with two young kids. I did register them in the VJW, and their boxes are yellow. Will there be any further questions for them at HND or can I bring them with me in the "blue box lane"? |

What should I do? A. If you completed the registration with “Will not submit” for the child’s vaccination certificate and "No" for test certificate, the bar will be yellow. If the child is eligible for an exemption, the bar will stay yellow, but there should be no issues with quarantine procedures. If a child under the age of 18 does not have a valid vaccination certificate but is accompanied by a parent/custodian with whom the child lives and who does have a valid vaccination certificate and is responsible for the child's actions, the child will be given special consideration as having a valid vaccination certificate like the parent/custodian, and be exempted from having to submit a negative COVID test certificate. |
I signed up and am surprised I wasn't asked for my "return" flight?

Love seeing helpful posts like these where it's straight to the point and concise. Question: when is your passport stamped?

I have my FastTrackScreenshot, yellow immigration QR code and blue customs QR code. Am I good to go?
|
Yes, that's the right combination. Just make sure you get the pink paper from the first bunch of people checking phones/tablets when you get off the plane and you should be fine. Depending on which airline you're arriving on you may encounter several sets of them before you get to Immigration. The last couple of times I came in through Haneda on Delta (very long walk) they were in the jet bridge and right outside in the gate area. Also several groups waiting for other flights in the hall way and a bunch right where the testing station is before Immigration. If you've got the pink paper then you should be able to head straight to Immigration, Customs and out.

This was my experience two weeks ago at Haneda. I will note that at Immigration, they want to scan your fingertips and take a picture. Seemed like we had to remove our masks at least two times during the whole process, but was relatively painless.

In case anyone else is having problems getting the Fast Track quarantine page to load: I was just getting a perpetual spinning circle on Chrome (both MacOS laptop and Android phone) but was able to upload my vaccination card when I visited the website in Safari on my laptop.

Entered Japan at NRT last week without Visit Japan Web. Quick report on how it went:
|
Another quick data point. HND on Delta. Everything pre approved on VJW. Procedure as others have noted. Keep that Pink paper where they can see it. Set your phone so you don't time out.
No checked luggage and a pretty quick walker ... it was literally 15 minutes from the plane door to the Tokyo monorail! |
