Forgive my clear lack of being tech saavy but as long as your carrier works internationally then why do you need a Sim card? I have ATT and the phone just works at every country I've been to (so far). Is the Sim card for better/quicker service or to save money be avoiding the international plan cost that ATT, Verizon, T Mobile charge?
I have T-Mobile service in the US which includes free roaming in most countries. It's very convenient to land and just be able to use the phone, but the data rates are rather slow. In some cases I do opt to purchase a local eSIM card as that tends to be a fair bit cheaper than paying TMO for faster speeds outside of the US/Canada.
