Nikka 12 year for ¥5929 (including tax) at a supermarket in Shimo-Kitazawa today. Saw it at the Donkey in a Shibuya last night for something like $150 USD. Ridiculous.
Absolutely no success finding any Hibiki no age statement anywhere. Hibiki 17 was $500 USD at the Shibuya donkey and that was the only place I was able to find it. Did not buy. .... that.
Here’s the Nikka:

Also, I purchased Nikka 12 from Donkis for ¥5,000. I would be shocked if marked it up since it is so easily available.

I was able to confirm what SQ50 mentioned, Hibiki Blender’s Choice is in fact only for bars and restaurants. Retail price ¥10,000.
The good news is it’s already hit secondary markets, my friend was able to score 4 bottles in Tokyo at ¥17,000 each, which seems reasonable.

Kirin Seagram have just released country wide a new Fuji Sanroku Special Blend, list is Y5200, and is discounted to Y4700. A nose to die for, and a taste not far behind. The Fuji Gotenba premium line of 18 years goes for Y26,000 or so - anyone any experience with these premium blends? The Fuji santoku also has a non-special blend going for Y1500, which I haven't tasted.
For everyones information, prices on Hakushu 12 coming down on rakuten and Amazon...was 40-50,000 nw can be had for 25,000 or so...

Is the Hakushu distillery worth a visit? Alternatively, do tours of the Yamazaki distillery open up (I'm looking at mid-November which appears to be fully booked...)?

I personally prefer the Hakushu Distillery as it's much less crowded.

I was there 3 weeks ago on a Sunday, and they were pretty strict about allowing no one on tours without a reservation, and no cancellation substitutes were allowed. Nothing to be had in the shop, except Chita. Very disappointed as it took a 5 hour drive (2-3 hours usually, but traffic accidents on way caused traffic blockages). I had previously been there 10 years ago, and the attitude and friendliness has changed a lot. Guards everywhere to make sure you don't walk off boundaries. In the old days you could wander around. Mind you, if you think about it, must be billions of Yen in stocks there, even more than a Swiss watch shop in Ginza!
