Another quarter, another Accelerate. Answers to some Frequently Asked Questions below:


For newcomers to IHG promotions, note that Holiday Inn Express and Holiday Inn (including Holiday Inn Resorts) are two different brand categories for these things. If your dashboard says 'stay at a Holiday Inn Express' as one of the tasks and you stay at a Holiday Inn, it will NOT credit for the Holiday Inn Express task. (and vice versa)

An award stay only counts toward a task that specifically requires an award stay and will not count toward other tasks and night requirements for the purposes of the promotion. (Award stays do count toward general elite qualification, but that's outside this promotion)

At IHG, points + cash stays are simply points stays where you bought some of the points at the time of the reservation. Once you finish the reservation, a points + cash stay shows as a points stay. Thus points + cash stays only count for tasks where they are specified, and not other tasks.

Doing a points + cash booking and then cancelling it does NOT trigger a 'buy points' task completion. A 'buy points' task is a points transaction that is processed through points.com

The 'pay with your IHG credit card' task has typically been very slow to post. If it does within about two weeks of completing a stay, that's relatively quick, and it will often be several weeks beyond that, depending on when your statement closing date is and how IHG's system sweep is timed.

Some offers require booking within the promotion period in addition to staying during the promotion period.

There is also one this time that just mentions redeeming points. A reward night will satisfy it, however it does not specifically mention reward night, it just says redeem your points.

One of mine is to "stay once in September and get 5000 bonus points". I have a paid for stay for two nights. Check in 29th Sept and check out 1st Oct. Will this count?

I just asked about Q2 and nope, my 7 night stay at an IC doesn't count towards any bonus The food & beverage spent there did count.

I have not been able to sign in to accelerate website for 3 days now. Web site says back end issues? Anyone else having the same issue?

Use this thread to ask another question about booking multiple rooms and accelerator.
When it says stay there nights to get 5000 points, how about book 3 rooms on the same day? Will it count as only 1 or 3? Btw, I paid for the bill, will i got points for all three rooms? Thank you.

One of my tasks is to redeem points. I did redeem points for a reward stay; the 1,000 bonus points already posted.

However, I will probably have to cancel that stay. Will the status of the task remain at "completed" or will I have to find another way to redeem points?

Three rooms on the same night would be one qualifying night; you would get points for the additional rooms in North America only.

It seems this rate earn points.

For unlocking the IHG credit card spend bonus, I had a stay at an IHG hotel and paid using the IHG chase card, but the spend was not recognized by chase as 5x IHG merchant. I've contacted Chase and they will credit the full amount, but will this be an issue for IHG in unlocking the mission?

It's been a while since I participated in Accelerate. What sort of wait is involved between the stay posting points at IHG and a) the Accelerate dashboard updating, b) the bonus points posting?

[I stayed on Sunday night, got survey email yesterday, stay and normal points posted this morning]

I had a stay in Bali on 9 September for one night. The points for the stay and another offer I was subscribed to were posted within a couple of days. The Accelerate bonus points were posted about a week later.

Mine took about 2/3 weeks for both Q2 and Q3 to post as the status offer, but then the points pointed pretty much immediately after (same time or 2-3 days later at most)
