IC Presidente Cozumel

Status Ambassador

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes!

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Three paid nights in beach front room (received standard one level upgrade). Five reward nights in pool view room.

How are the rooms?
Both are very nice. The ground floor poolview room we got was almost as nice as the beach view, though its rate is 150usd cheaper. Both have an outdoor shower which is fabulous!

How is the exec. lounge?
N/a

Did you receive a welcome gift?
Fresh fruit, also on reward nights

How was the minibar?
Ok

What was good and what was bad?

-Good
Free Internet! Not published anywhere but this is an extra for ambassadors. Reliable and fast, too!
They deliver room service and other things by bicycle, loved that!
Super friendly staff
Despite reading mixed reports upfront, I though the food was excellent.

-Bad
They moved us to a different room for the reward stays, an annoyance more than anything
Lots of Mosquitos in the room, though none on the beach (no sandflies).

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Bit pricey on the $ side, very good value for points

Would you return?[/QUOTE]
Only on a direct flight , the trip from Cancun airport to Cozumel was a pita

Yes

Which room did you book and what upgrade did you receive?

How are the rooms?
Newly updated and beautiful. I loved the decor and the view is amazing!

How is the exec. lounge?

A box of chocolates in a nice Grand Stanford box.

Yes a nice fruit plate and 1 bottle of water.

It is a nice hotel and although I have stayed at the IC Hong Kong before, I think the difference in rate means this would be my favored hotel in future.

IC Porto - Palacio das Cardosas (April 2012)

What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum Ambassador

Were you happy with the hotel?
YES

Which room did you book and which room did you receive?
We booked a King Bed Executive Square View and were upgraded to a one bedroom suite.

How are the rooms?
Wonderful -- the suite wasn't the most spacious, but very stylish and comfortable. Two bathrooms, a great view from the bedroom of the rooftops... this hotel is worth a return!

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was your welcome gift?
A bottle of port wine.

Did you receive fruit in the room?
Yes -- very lush fruit plate, and replaced daily.

What was good and what was bad?

Good:
-Amazing staff/service
-Location -- right on the main square and an easy walk to historic old town and great restaurants
-Great bar with entertainment

Bad:
-I can't really identify a "bad." Maybe the free bottle of port they gave us as a gift could have been better? (But hard to look down on a free bottle of port wine!)

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Yes, this was a great value. We will try to return in the future.

IC Geneva (Multiple stays)

What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum Ambassador

Were you happy with the hotel?
Yes -- I travel there approx. four times a year for business, and always look forward to my stays there.

Which room did you book and which room did you receive?
My office usually books me a standard, which usually gets upgraded to a superior lake view, usually on a high floor.

How are the rooms?
Very comfortable and modern. Nice bathrooms (if a little cramped), and a great blackout curtain and comfortable bed (for good sleep!).

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was your welcome gift?
The same box of truly excellent chocolates every time! One of the things I (and my wife, when I return with them!) really look forward to.

Did you receive fruit in the room?
Yes -- usually a couple of pieces of fruit, replaced daily.

What was good and what was bad?

Good:
-Attentive staff
-Location near the United Nations
-Easy to get to/from airport on number 5 bus or via cab
-Attractive lobby is a great place to get business done, or relax (but the prices are typically high, as they are all over Geneva)

Bad:
-Geneva is an expensive city, and the IC is expensive even by those standards! Breakfast is around $45 (but very nice!), but you can also stock up on yogurts and breakfast stuff at the small grocery store behind the hotel.
-It's near the UN, but not much else. It's a 2.5 mile walk downtown, but they give you a transport card which makes all buses/trams free.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
It's a fantastic hotel when work is paying! If I was there on my own dime, I might try something more central and more reasonably priced.

IC Athenaeum Athens

What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum Ambassador

Were you happy with the hotel?
Yes, more or less.

Which room did you book and which room did you receive?
We booked a Club Room and got a Club Room (but apparently the upgrade was to a room with a view).

How are the rooms?
Very nice -- and the view of the Acropolis was impressive.

How is the exec. lounge?
Very nice, with a great terrace with Acropolis views.

What was your welcome gift?
A couple of fragrant olive oil soaps wrapped in a ribbon.

Did you receive fruit in the room?
Yes.

What was good and what was bad?

Good:
-View
-Comfortable Club room and lounge

Bad:
-The service was spotty -- some of the lounge staff (where you check in/out) was great, but some treated you like you were not very welcome.
-They only give you internet in 15 minute increments, and only 1 hour per day. It's RIDICULOUS -- on a Club floor (heck, as an Ambassador) you should get free internet automatically.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
OK value. The location isn't the best, though...

What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum Ambassador

Were you happy with the hotel?
Yes

Which room did you book and which room did you receive?
We booked an Executive King Creek View room and were upgraded to a One Bedroom Suite.

How are the rooms?
We actually tried to "un-upgrade" our room back to something with a creek view, as the suite didn't have that INCREDIBLE view of the creek and skyline. Ultimately we stayed put -- the room was very comfortable, and we spent a lot of time out and about anyway.

How is the exec. lounge?
They keep trying to sell us lounge access. No thanks. There's a mall next door and great cafes and restaurants.

What was your welcome gift?
You get a choice -- which is quite nice of them! We chose a free drink at the bar, where we sat and watched the sun set over the creek.

Did you receive fruit in the room?
Yes -- very lush fruit plate, and replaced daily.

What was good and what was bad?

Good:
-Location -- not far from the airport, next to a mall with a movie theatre and good restaurants, and on a path by the creek where I can run in the mornings.
-Very stylish
-Great spa

Bad:
-Too bad the suites don't have creek views.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Yes.

OK value. The location isn't the best, though...
We stayed here as Plat Amb in a Club room recently too. Experience was very much the same as yours in terms of the upgrade and the internet access.

When we were there, the club lounge was very quiet (some evenings no more than 10 people came in), and I had no complaints about the staff - every time we took something it was immediately restocked as they had nothing else to do! Always friendly too.

Regarding the location, it is out of the centre but there are two options - (i) the hotel shuttle - we didn't use this, but we saw it leave a couple of times, (ii) about 3 mins walk away is a tram stop with trams which run at a reasonable frequency (although the trams often seem to bunch and then a long gap).

You can also walk to Fix metro (maybe 10 mins tops), but there is a lot of construction in the area with some footpaths missing.

Intercontinental Sydney

What is your status?

Platinum Ambassador

Were you happy with the hotel?

Couldnt be happier staff excellent right from initial contact, arrived with my wife and children early, room wasnt ready so they suggested going up to the club lounge for a coffee and something to eat while our room was being made ready.

The Club Supervisor at the time then checked us in and because the children wouldnt be allowed into the Club Lounge after 5 gave us the options of having a tabled reserved at the Cortile or having our Canaps delivered to our room

During afternoon tea the Club supervisor spent some time helping my 6 and 3 year old with colouring in cartoons with pencils and highlighters supplied by them

Which room did you book and what upgrade did you receive?

Booked club eastern harbour view and received club Harbour Bridge view

How were the rooms?

Reasonably nice room was told it was one of the larger rooms, hate to see a smaller one!

How is the Club Lounge?

As they say there nothing like the Club Lounge in the Sydney Intercontinental as I have said the staff and service there are excellent

What was your welcome gift?

Bottle of wine

Did you receive fruit in the room?

Yes

What was good and what was bad?

Good

Staff and Club lounge amazing views location is good for Circular Quay ferries (Zoo) and the Opera house

Bad

Only gripe is that IC Sydney is a slightly greater distance from main shopping than kids can comfortably walk but that is only being picky since my children are so young

Value for money? Would you return?

Booked with Priority Privilege BOGO (4 nights) so excellent value will definitely return if staying in Sydney again

What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum Ambassador.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked King Bed Club Deluxe (with BOGO), upgraded to Junior Suite.

How are the rooms?
Modern, the Junior Suite has a relatively large sitting area plus work desk. Luggage found its place behind the bed. Also large bath room (both shower and bath tub). The furniture had a few nicks and scratches.

How is the exec. lounge?
Relatively good breakfast selection. Happy hour had plenty to eat.

What was your welcome gift?
Box of chocolate.

What was good and what was bad?

Good
Service, generally.
Room was very nice, and the views from 31st floor good.

Bad
Not much really. Saturday morning the breakfast lasts until 10:30, at which time they were already busy wheeling food away, even though there were plenty of customers.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Yes, would return.

Did you notice the renovation works? COEX says only 30% of rooms available at Grand, rest under construction. Still quiet enough?
