Frequently Asked Questions
Please read these before asking your question in the thread.
  1. Q. If I book a stay using IHG points, does that count as a "stay" towards my Into The Nights offers?
    A. No.

  2. Q. If I book a stay using a cash and points rate, does that count as a "stay" towards my Into The Nights offers?
    A. No.

  3. Q. Will stays booked via a consolidator (like TravelPony) or other public travel portal or points portal count towards this promo?
    A. No. Your stays must be booked directly with IHG on their website or on their app. However, if you are booking through your corporate portal at work, this may post if such stays usually earn you base points.

  4. Q. How long will it take for my points to post?
    A. Normally they post within a week or two.

  5. Q. How long after stay points post to my IHG account is it until my personal Into the Nights dashboard is updated showing progress in my offers?
    A. The Tuesday after the stay points post to account. (edit: has been Thursday lately, November)

  6. Q. Where can I find the Bonus Point package with Breakfast rate?
    A. Click here to book Bonus Points Package with (or without) Breakfast rate.

NOTE: Make sure that your email confirmation states something like this:

Rate Description: Exclusive to IHG Rewards Club members. Earn Faster with this package offer plus breakfast - Earn 5,000 bonus IHG Rewards Club points per stay when you book the 5,000 Bonus Point Package plus breakfast each day (breakfast for up to 2 adults sharing a room). Membership in IHG® Rewards Club is free! Points can be redeemed at any time for a variety of rewards, including free hotel stays starting at just 10,000 points, airline miles, name-brand merchandise and more. Book now to take advantage of this special offer!

Otherwise you booked the wrong rate type. This type of rate also comes in a 1000 point version.

  7. Q. I registered for this promotion before 10/20/2014 and my tasks changed! (E.g., "book a stay with the app" became "book 9 stays with the app").
    A. See this post from IHG's FlyerTalk representative.

  8. Q. Does a Holiday Inn Express stay count as a Holiday Inn stay?
    A. No

  9. Q. What are the conditions for the free nights being awarded?
    A. Free nights must be redeemed by December 31st, 2015 and must be claimed by January 31st, 2015 or members will automatically be awarded applicable points. Free Nights can only be used in participating IHG hotels and may not be transferred. A Free Night is valid only for one standard room night rate and applicable taxes (not including breakfast). Redemption is subject to availability of the rooms of hotels specially provided for this promotion. The hotel rooms hotels specially provided for this promotion shall be determined at IHG’s discretion.

  10. Q.I chose the 2 free nights award, how do I book them?
    A. Go to your My Account page on ihg.com (after logging in). On the left hand masthead you will see an option labeled "Free Night Status". The page will show how many free nights you have available and provides a way to book the nights. Note that it's a bit clumsy -- an initial search will show that the lowest price is Free, but until you click thru you won't know if it's really available for your preferred nights.

  11. Q. Can I trade the free nights?
    A. Not on FlyerTalk. They are specifically designated non-transferable.

Post #2585 has a link to the Dashboard. You can "Claim" free nights there.

Please update the FAQ as seems expedient.

I used my and my wife's IHG credit card free nights at the IC Bali, and had a lovely time.

Probably the best value would be one of the IC Hong Kong's or IC Singapore. It really all depends where you want to go...

I'd avoid redeeming for IC Singapore - though it's a decent property, there are better values to be had in SIN, I think.

Then again, if the goal is a completely free night, maybe it's a good choice. IC HKG is a great idea though. That hotel costs a fortune at all times.

Why are you surprised people? That they can't even make the simplest
promo work? Seriously?
And be honest - are you really staying at Holiday Inn hotels. They suck.
They stink. Why would you even do it, to get 2 more nights at the same crap?
Amazing.
Actually, they are still a solid loyalty program that prints points, has some nice resorts with some reasonable redemptions. I've had 8 award nights this year, all at IC's (a week at the IC Koh Samui and two nights at IC Bali) all from a few nights stays, a couple of promotions and two IHG credit cards...

And I had a nice stay at the new Holiday Inn Jakarta Kemayoran a couple of weeks ago. Upgraded me as a Platinum to a nice Cabana room with a terrace leading out to the pool, modern clean room with fast internet. Sure, the usual crappy toiletries, but I've learned to bring my own if I'm checking into a Holiday Inn. Nice hotel, and a great value for a mattress run at $77/night, including breakfast.

I knew it, I knew I'd go crazy between the IHG and now Accor promos.

Carlton has a nice easy promo (heard that before) I'm going to give them a try.

I may just end up trashing hotel rooms all next month.

I'm just waiting for the 'book a stay and pay with IHG Visa' to update on the dashboard, I stayed and paid for this stay nearly 6 weeks ago.

Has anybody else got this task ?

How long did it take for the dashboard to update from date of stay ?

Thanks

My stay using the card was 18th September, the dashboard changed to a number in the circle and the points added around the 15th October, however the dashboard has only changed to showing achieved within the last twenty four hours.

So from staying to showing achieved it was roughly six weeks with the points around four weeks.

Bizarrely it's about the only thing that has went right with that card for me recently.

Thanks for reply chrism20, so should be in the next week. That is bizarre as I also thought that this task would cause the biggest headache posting.

Background - I completed all tasks over 5 weeks ago now & everything tracked apart from one of my two required "extend your weekend" stays.
Update - just off the phone & IHG customer care have now confirmed a new, unwritten & unpublished term/condition regarding what constitutes a "stay" under this farce of a promotion.

2 consecutive nights at the same hotel does not constitute a "stay" unless made with just one confirmation.
Despite asking where this new definition of a "stay" was published, specifically the single confirmation bit, they (a supervisor no less) just repeated, ad nauseam, how my 2 night stay including a Sunday night wasn't actually a 2 night stay at all .

She offered me half the 8000 points completing this task was worth despite it being the last "in progress" task on my dashboard - hence no completion bonus unlocking or 2 free nights.

Any suggestions as to who to contact regarding this shameful treatment?
I'm pretty disgusted to be honest although I shouldn't have expected much more from IHG I guess.

I certainly will be steering future corporate bookings away from this chain as much as I can.

I just got an email ftrom IHG, apologixing for changing my offers, and saying that they had changed them back.

The thing is, I'm pretty sure that they never changed.

Its an easy thing to overlook so don't be too hard on yourself. I almost did. But I'm sure these 2 stays will at least take 1 night off your 3-night total for completing ITN. (that is, if you have the same offer as me given to brand new accounts)

I've completed all stays over one month now with all of them posted to my account, but the "Book on IHG app" task (not the "Download and book on app" one) still shows partially completed.

I emailed IHG and they basically told me I didn't register until the Sep 10th (the date their system showed) so one of my stays booked on Sep 7th wasn't counted. But the truth is, I registered on Sep 4th and I sent them the confirmation email (EVIDENCE) I received on the same day. Then they just kept telling me they were working on it to get it updated within 7 business days. So, several "7 business days"s have passed, still NO UPDATE.

Anyone in similar situation waiting for this "Book on IHG app" to be updated or get this kind of problem solved?

Only you understood it to work that way it appears as most read the terms and conditions as IHG read them. Shameful is not a word I would use in connection with this specific issue. I think deliberate ignorance would be more to the point.

Hmm. I disagree. IHG, and, for that matter, all other chains, go OUT OF THEIR WAY to define a stay as being "any number of consecutive nights irrespective of checkins and checkouts" to prevent multiple consecutive nights being split into separate stay credits ... so it sounds like they're back-pedalling here.
