New to travel seeking advice/guidance
I just joined FlyerTalk after a friend recommended I check it out. I have just recently started travelling...went to Hawaii, Puerto Vallarta, Argentina and Uruguay, but I really do not understand how to use my points or how to utilize this and other resources to book travel. I have quite a few points with United and Delta. I am wanting to plan a trip with my daughter but I have no idea where to start, I'm not sure if we should pick a place we want to go or just see if there are any great deals out there and let the "deal" decide where we go. Basically I'm really new to this and it just seems to be very overwhelming, there's so much information to sort thru and I just don't know where to begin or how to get started.

GardenGuy Welcome to FT
The main use of freq flyer miles/points for many people is award flights and/or upgrades for yourself or others (all subject the ffp t&c's)
Have a look at the
- Delta forum http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delta...-skymiles-665/
- United forum http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...leageplus-681/
Both have basic sticky info threads on the top
While you are in the UA & DL forums this may be of interest http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/infor...help-here.html 2 ffp's is more than enough for most people.
