What is going on with the 3 existing 777-200LRs (VT-ALF/G/H) that were tendered in July? Did anyone bid for them? Bids were supposed to be opened in August. Those birds currently fly DEL-SFO-DEL and have crappy angled flat seats in business.

I'm wondering which routes the 5 new Delta 777-200LRs will be put on. I also wonder if Air India has changed the seats on them as they don't seem to be selling Premium Economy for the new flights that have been loaded.

According to Simple Flying, the new BOM-JFK, BLR-SFO, and BOM-SFO will all be served by 777-200LRs. Not sure they can do that and the DEL-SFO routes with only 5 777-200LRs. So I'm wondering if the tender was cancelled? Or are they going to move the DEL-SFO to something other than the 777-200LR at some point? If so, the schedule loaded for next year doesn't seem to reflect it right now.

Are any of the planes being refurbished seat-wise?

I think as it stands they have the planes but not the pilots. They've announced a bunch of new international routes...

Air India announces six new non-stop international flights to US, Europe; Details here (msn.com)

All the routes announced are for their Dreamliners. They are yet to announce routes for their DL 777s...

They’ve announced the routes for the DL 777s also. See the Simple Flying link I posted above.

Today's SFO inaugural was with an existing B77L. The delta 777 has been repainted:

Which inaugaral flight was this? What plane flew it? Flightaware doesn't show any of the three existing 777Ls that are doing DEL-SFO-DEL as having flown it.

Looking at AI for an upcoming DEL-JFK trip in March. Hopefully they would be using one of the new aircraft on this route at that time.

Have 3 trips coming up to NYC in January, March & May. I've already booked the January trip on KLM but there has been a schedule change which makes me eligible for a full refund. So I am open to changing that to AI to try one of their new DL birds.

I can see they are operating the new aircraft on the BOM-EWR route but has anyone heard of any routes being operated out of DEL?

I can always make the trek to fly out of BOM but of course DEL would be the preferred option.

They were supposed to get rid of the old 77Ls. There was a tender for them. What happened to that?

^ Putin's war on Ukraine meant Air India was the sole airline operating over Russian Airspace to USA/Canada. A huge competitive advantage in the form of time savings and route viability, as US/CAN carriers are struggling to operate certain routes and others have become unfeasible w/o fuel stops (Air Canada had to put a fuel stop in LHR for YYZ <=> BOM). They're pouncing on this unbelievable business opportunity for them
