Flying DEL-YVR First Class on AI 185 in Jan 2023, looking at flight radar, they have been flying VT-ALJ, VT-ALR, VT-ALQ, VT-ALS, and VT-ALK on this route. They all seem to be pre 2010 77W's, anyone here know if I have any luck of getting refurbished First Class or old school?

The second ex-DL plane, VT-AEG, has started doing BLR-SFO, another 3x weekly route i.e. one that can be served by one plane. No love for more major routes with competition, like JFK or ORD.

I can see BOM-EWR and BOM-JFK both have the new 777 seatmap showing up for June.

I'm OK with an inconsistent experience. I'm just glad they are moving on from their current tired long haul configuration.

3 class of the good kind: https://www.aerolopa.com/ey-773-3

Definitely a significant upgrade from the existing B777 product (I suppose anything is )

Any news on when these will be inducted and on what routes?

What is happening to the legacy AI 777s with angled flat business? Are they being retired?

Tip to tail cabin refurb on all B777 and B787s starting this year. I suppose the DL & EY lease B777 are to cover some of that.

Wait till they do a last minute swap of an expected ex DL or EY plane with one of their own when you've booked a very expensive J or F ticket.

But yes better seats, better food & drinks, hopefully a better IFE..... that sounds fantastic for AI!

I agree. That is a risk. But then again, look at the larger picture, which will come into place a few years from now when all their existing planes have been refurbished.

If I am the unfortunate victim of a last minute swap then that will definitely suck but I don't expect it to happen regularly & maybe AI would be willing to allow changes without penalty in that event.

While these newer aircraft is good news, any word on improving on-time departures? AI176 is abysmal

I understand they are going to replace the "open" J seats with the same open seats, except new, in the same bilious yellow-and-orange color scheme. There will still be a middle seat on the 777. I would love to be proved wrong.

Serious staff shortage the crews are all timed out. They are training new crew but that will take time.

The interiors and design are supposedly all new.
