9W Frequent Flyer Program - Jet Privilege
Hello All, how's everybody doing? I have been in the Mileage run game, for a couple of years now. When i was in India, Jet Airways was one of the most prestigious airline, and had one of the best flight networks in India.
I was a college student back then (I still am, doing my Masters!!
) and used to do Mileage runs, just for the elite status. As most of you, FTers are well aware of, I guess, earning miles and points on Jet Airways is somewhat tough/difficult, compared to some US-based carriers (that's from my, a college student's experience, I might be wrong, though !!). Anyways, I have always found the service, and the guest-care of Jet-Airways, to be impeccable, and really good !!!
However, I started this thread, as I wanted to know, if there are other FTers, like me, who are Jet-Airways elite, and had a really hard time booking award tickets/upgrades ?? I had numerous encounters like this, and I will be posting all of that soon enough !!!
P.S.: This is my first post/thread on FT !!! Hope you guys enjoy my threads/comments/pictures !!!!

Hi AvidFlyer1990, and welcome to flyertalk!
There are a number of threads already related to your questions. Try taking a look though them. The first one is a long thread, but there is some discussion about best use of JP miles. The second thread is a discussion related to service quality on Jet.

As for mileage running on Jet (or AI for that matter)... well I have to say I don't see that question come up much. I wonder why
(i.e., take a look through the first thread mentioned)

Keyser , you are absolutely right !!!! It's a really unfair comparison, and FF programs in India (I only know of Jet Privilege), is still at a very nascent stage !!!
But, I was just giving my views on the whole situation !!! I sometimes wonder, if I would have chosen Delta, over 9W, I would have been a Plat. Medallion for the same number of flights, as opposed to 9W Gold !!!
Anyways, I'm just a college student, and I still have a lot to learn !!! I hope, fellow FTers like yourself, will help !!!!
And about the threads, you are right, I have to check before posting a new one !!! I am really new to FT, and I still have to figure out where everything is !!!
I would like to thank Mr. Bean for the links and the comments

it would be unfair to compare the frequent flyer programs in the us with the ones in india....i don't think the airlines & hotel chains in india have quite figured out how to run a good frequent flyer program....king club had a few good qualities but that airline was always headed for disaster....
as mr. bean pointed out, there are a number of threads that already exist on the topics you brought up in your post....it would be a good idea to search before starting a new thread as too many threads on the same topic won't help anyone....
welcome to ft & hope to see more of you here....

And while India might be behind on the FF game, and I doubt they will ever will be a FF Game in India, the airlines product in India is much much better than any airlines in US.. Even for LCC, India is ahead in the game..
I am saying this from personal experience.. AA coach from LHR to EWR was worse than deccan airlines from Delhi to Chennai..
@ Keyser.. Hey man.. long time..!!

Simz, you are right, comparing FF programs in India, and to those in other countries is a really unfair competition!
However, their overall product, in which India did have the lead, is improving a lot, and is almost at par with the asian carriers!

All the airlines of India have gone downhill since IT went under. The lack of competition has made them complacent.

By what metric? UA will endorse me over to an interline partner if their flight is delayed or cancelled - I have yet to see 9W or AI do that. At the end of the day, reliability is the most important metric, and reliability has gone down, down, down.
