losing out on a day would not be a factor for me as i would be flying in a couple of days before i need to be in dc....but i just did 15+ hours a few weeks ago on ai & it was not the most pleasant experience....
as criminal as it is spending 200k miles to travel one way between india-usa, i'm leaning towards ua being the preferable option.... As for the 200k miles... any redemption on AI is high way robbery and the 160k miles for DEL-SFO isn't much better... but you're crediting your *A miles to AI knowing that... |

Even if I had time on my hands, I would prefer to spend the time on the ground vs. being in the air with either UA or AI. So I'd pick the shortest option. Also if you have 2 days to spare and you're traveling right now... hope that you're going to be in DC during the cherry blossom season and enjoy that vs. broken seats/crappy food/flight attendants yelling at you etc. If you were say having to fly to SFO and back to DC on a better airline - QR, EK, NH, SQ etc... I'd definitely do that.

Who gives a rodents behind what the tail number of an aircraft is all about.... and why does a HC even accept such BS petitions?
https://economictimes.indiatimes.com...w/82524483.cms “It is an important sign of colonial repression of British, which remains on Indian aircraft in the form of Alphabets ‘VT’ even today,” said the petition, a copy of which was reviewed by ET. “India got independence on August 15, 1947, and hence it is high time to change the Alphabets ‘VT’ prefixed to Indian aircraft’s registration/name.” “If one goes through the ICAO alphabetical identification given to various countries, the word ‘MG’ (for Mahatma Gandhi) or ‘BH’ (for Bharat) are not given to anyone and hence instead of alphabets ‘VT’, the ICAO can grant words ‘MG’ or ‘BH’ to all aircraft registered in India,” said the petition. Singhania is an avid airman, but really? Why not ask for the ICAO airport codes to be changed too? VIDP, VABB, VECC and VOMM must be equally insulting? :D |

HI all, Hope everyone is keeping safe.
Question for anyone who might know - Can an individual send a bank cheque from a foreign country (say USA) to India via postal mail or courier? Or are there regulations (e.g., customs related) which might prevent the cheque from leaving the airport in India? (Google search gives results saying this is not allowed.....especially if the sender is an NRI). Obviously I do not have experience with this ...as we used to get these payments done while we visited India. Of course, now it is very challenging to visit and get back, etc. Any thoughts appreciated! |

i have received cheques from overseas clients in the past....they were delivered to me without any problems....don't know if there are any different rules in place at the moment but i would doubt it....
Hopefully we can actually visit and get these things taken care of. But, it will be easier to send these via courier. |
You can send anyone a cheque drawn on a US bank in India, they just have to take it to their bank and submit it correctly. The RBI and the Enforcement Directorate hate cash or money order mailings, those are not allowed.
Alternatively use Revolut or Transferwise to send money in INR electronically/directly. Works like a charm from 'Western' countries. |

And if the cheque is from a US bank, would take a bit for it to clear into the account of the payee here in India. My experience with this is a little dated, but it did work. Just that if i remember right, it took nearing a month for the amount almost for it to clear into my bank account in India.
