It will probably be a problem if they’re not going through India. In which case the airside hotel might be the only option if they can’t get a visa in time.

Ok thanks.

Anyone else got any experience in this?

I am looking at UK > India on AI and it seems they only release 1 award seat in J. I need 2 and was wondering if I book that will they release another one?

You’d have to have pretty senior folks from AI’s revenue management team trolling this site to get a definitive answer on that. :)

In my general experience I’d say no. AI doesn’t try to fill every J seat they can like CX. They’re more like SQ... except SQ makes more strategic decisions and AI generally just doesn’t bother or care either way.

But on a LHR - DEL/BOM/AMD route I don’t think they release more than 1 J seat. They do release plenty of Y seats though 3-4 at times.

I would say depending on loads - although never tried on AI.

Why don't you call Flying Returns to find out what they have to say?

i recently booked 2 j award seats on ai for travel between del-lhr in march....but generally ai releases only 1 business class seat on these routes....there will be a few random dates which will have 2 seats but they are few & far between....

so how have you all been killing time during the lock down????

oliver2002 Apr 5, 2020 7:43 am

Kids are home since 4 weeks, I'm home 3 weeks now. Work is not going away and kids demand attention as my wife is still going to work. Not much time on hand to kill... In fact I have less time on hand. Coffee and lunch is not available in the canteen/cafeteria but needs to be prepared yourself. Kids don't get taught by teachers but show up every 15 mins with questions. In the afternoon my makeshift home office in the living room is stormed by two boys wanting to watch TV or play on the Xbox.

i can relate....i've was in self-quarantine since i came back from france on the 11th of march....by the time that ended, modi announced the lock down....so i have been home for almost 4 weeks now....same with the kids & wife....

luckily, i have a full fledged office in my basement....since my other office is closed, i'm using the basement office daily....however, 90% of my work is litigation & since courts are all technically closed, i don't have much work these days....i get done in 2-3 hours daily....

kids have 3 hours of online school which takes care of their mornings....by that time i am done with work as well so the afternoons after lunch are spent playing basketball with them in the court in our backyard....

but after 3pm we have nothing to do....wife watches the news or chats with her friends, kids play on the playstation or want to watch youtube, i try to do something constructive & fail miserably....

7pm is dinner time & after that we all watch a movie together....9pm kids go to bed....then the wife wants to watch the news again to see how many the government claims are infected, we watch more netflix or amazon prime before going to bed....

next day we repeat the process....another 9 days to go before modi probaby extends the lock down....

I heard from someone (who said they were in "the know") is that the lockdown will continue until at least May...

very likely....my sources tell me that when the lock down is lifted, it will be done so gradually in stages....some version of the lock down will remain till diwali time....

Managing my kid, cooking and cleaning is taking up most of my time. Work has taken a back seat. Thankfully my clients are going slower than I am so that’s a saving grace.

Other than that having to learn to do things by myself. While I’m used to elbow grease (more than the average Indian man) and am very familiar with mechanical and electrical things, I’m having to spend time fixing (and looking up YouTube how-to-videos) to fix my car, electrical stuff around the house and what not.

And then of course I spend some time wondering how this lockdown is really ever going to end if India doesn’t amp up testing exponentially and of course the world doesn’t collaborate to fix the healthcare and economic nightmare to come.
