Just finished a 1 night award stay here using up my last FFN night from last year. This was our first stay here and we were very happy overall. We got a great room on the 18th floor with a shower stall and a really huge tub. The bed was excellent, the electric blinds were cool (although not very light proof), and the TV was a very nice size. The small TV in the bathroom was also a nice touch. Everything about the room looked brand new with no wear showing on anything as it was apparently very recently renovated.

I asked for the cheese plate and red wine instead of the 1000 points and it was well worth it. The wine was a Chilean Syrah and the plate had 4 different very good cheeses with some fancy crackers and red fruit preserves. The breakfast at Nomi was very good and the best part was our seating right in the front overhanging window section. I ordered the Nomi breakfast and my girlfriend ordered the lobster eggs benedict. All food charges were removed from my bill by checkout, but the tip was not (it was my only charge for the stay, so I had no problem with that). The only actual negative that I can think of was that we had a terrible view of a rooftop next door and a hot dog stand accross the street, but for a free room I won't complain at all.

Sorry I didn't take any photos as I didn't realize until checkout that all the rooms had just been renovated.

We recently stayed here as well, and were told about the rennovations. It appears there are new electronic blinds, fresh paint, and new flat screen TV's.

Interesting comments about the breakfast charges. In the past we have ordered rooms service and the charges were just wiped off completely...this time they removed $46 and charged us the balance...no issue with this as this is what the stated benefit is.

What do you mean by this? How is $46 the stated benefit?

At check in I have consistently been told that the breakfast allowed is for the continental breakfast (I believe) and the cost for two is $46 (I think).

Just checked in at a little bit before noontime. Check-in was very quick- less than a minute! I was assigned room #1217; "you've been upgraded to one of our enhanced lake view room". The room is indeed facing the lake, just a shy taller than the water tower. There is one window facing the Peninsula. The bathroom doesn't have a window overlooking the lake, but it has a big hot tub and a shower with two windows facing the Peninsula.

Not really much explanation given about the hotel except that "all of the activities are located on the 7th floor." I did tell them that I would like for the amenities to be delivered later on tonight. As FD agent escorted me to the elevator, he offered some suggestion of a "good and nice wine to enjoy in the hot Chicago weather."

Will report more later

With the risk of sounding like too much of a cheerleader for this property, we had yet another great stay over Memorial Day weekend!^
Highlights
-Called ahead about getting a room with 2 beds vs. the King on my reservation. Spoke to the rooms manager who was very apologetic about not being able to give us an upgrade, but put us in room 1402...a corner room that seemed larger than other rooms we'd had. Had a great view of the water tower and Lake Michigan.
-Rooms manager came out to greet us and apologized again. Saw my two boys and offered to bring up some cookies and milk along with our amenity...nice touch!
-When we returned home from dinner our amenity of white wine and fresh fruit was there. The fruit was nicely displayed and very tasty. The wine was the one white wine my wife and I don't care for...Riesling. My wife called and asked if we could get it replaced with a chardonnay...someone was there within 5 minutes of our call, and despite our offer to pay, they did not charge us...completely my fault for not discussing the wine with the front desk.
-Overall great and friendly service.

If there was any negative, there was a group of people that came home loud and over served at 5:30AM. They woke us up. Before we had a chance to say a word, security was in the hall quieting them down and getting them in their rooms...the hotel could not control the guests actions but handled it in a great way!

We have reservations here in July, August, October, and December...can't wait to return!

Funny my wife and I were on the same floor and heard the same loud drunken ruckus... by the time we called 2 others had already complained to the front desk and had dispatched security.

Other than that I would agree with bsdstone and the others that the Park Hyatt is a top notch hotel. Excellent Diamond recognition on FFN award and free breakfast in Nomi daily. Though I have to admit having just been at the St Regis Atlanta I felt luxury and service wise the St Regis won hands down.

Hopefully our kids didn't bother you...they were pretty wound up one of the nights...
We should start a future Hyatt stay thread like they have in Marriott...would have been fun to meet a fellow FT'er!
We typically order room service breakfast...especially when the kiddos are with us!

The marriott would be a good idea, but can you get room service breakfast at the PH Chicago for the Diamond breakfast?

Awesome! How was it and what was or the choices of welcome amenity! Thanks, just very excited for it!

The breakfast is exceptional, IMHO. My wife always gets an egg white omelet, with a side of chicken sausage...delicious! It's pricey, but with a $46 credit, it makes it easy to swallow a few extra bucks if you go over.

The amenity is one of the best you'll find at a North American Hyatt...the wine is very good quality, and the fruit or cheese plate is usually excellent. You always have the option of choosing the 1,000 points as well...this is one of the few properties where I don't take this option.

We were right around the corner in 1410. I believe I heard your kiddos on occasion but trust me they weren't a bother at all. My wife and I were the couple that had the little dogs. She insisted on bringing them much to my chagrin especially since it was an extremely long walk to a suitable area for them to do their deed! Hopefully they weren't a bother to you as well... Though they woke up and got a little barky when the 530 am drunken ruckus occurred! I know SPG also has future FT stay thread. Might be a good idea to start one for Hyatt to meet fellow FT'ers.

Not sure about room service as we ate in Nomi but our bill was well over 80 dollars on both occasions and we were given a zero balance on checkout. We did however, tip our waiters in cash based on the actual bill. Perhaps room service is different??

We chose the Prosecco and cheese plate for our Diamond Amenity. Prosecco was average and definitely not French Champagne quality as others have mentioned in earlier stays at the hotel. I thought the cheese collection was nice and well put together with approximately 4 varieties along with some nuts, crackers, and I believe Quince? Could be wrong on the latter.

Funny, we were also there over Memorial Day (Sat/Sun nights) as well. I forget what floor (12, I think), but we were also unable to get an upgrade (the Blackhawk game apparently filled in a lot of empty rooms).

We had two rooms on NBT, and the only thing that showed up from 4 daily breakfasts at NOMI was our tip. Was surprised to see that, I had expected to pay for some portion of the food. I may have seen some of you in Nomi, as we did see families with kids, which isn't something that we normally do there. They've always treated our two year old son very nicely.

We went with the prosecco and fruit. We've had the cheese before, and prefer the fruit. The macaroons were a huge disappointment on a prior stay.

We love this hotel! We'll be back again for a one night stay tomorrow, using my last NBT from Winter.

Checked-in about a half hour ago, I was very pleased to get my room this early in the day. I asked about an upgrade (as I was given a west-facing room on the 16th floor), and I was told none were available. I find this strange as I can go online now and book a Park View King for my 3 night stay.

Absolutely no mention of diamond benefits upon check-in, I had to ask about breakfast and the welcome amenity after being given keys to the room. After double-checking the computer to verify I was diamond, the FD agent told me I could order room service for breakfast (no mention of how much credit I would receive) and then asked if I wanted 1,000 points or a wine/cheese amenity. Based on the fact she had no idea I was diamond, I'm guessing anyone could have checked-in as early as myself.

Rooms are excellent, nice flat screen for me to watch some World Cup action now.
