I GUESS it comes down to is the new breakfast worth the effort staying at the rio, for many the off strip location is a draw back, benefits of status COULD tilt the balance to choose the RIO vs say MGM properties, but now with the so so breakfast ( this is just MY opinion) one has to ask and weigh if the room rate is low enough for it to be worth staying off strip, some will say yes some will say no.
For my next stay I booked comped rooms WITH MGM as a backup and I will keep my eyes on the prices at the rio, if the room rates are under 40usd for a midweek stay before waived resort fees then I will book the Rio if its more then 40 I will just stay on strip and not get EQNs time will show if Rios change was good or not, Hopefully they will make a chabge for the better before OCT 😂😃
For every change there are the people who are happy and those who arent, and of course those who dont care.

For me its about price, but I am sure for many it wont be a factor. but staying at the rio for more then 40 is not worth it to me personally in vegas, given that I can stay at different hotels in the hyatt family for about 60 in places I want to stay. The breakfast was just a bonus. Of course YMMV and some people wont have better options for cheapish stays and obviously NOT everyone will want to stay on strip so different strokes for different folks

My take on it is this
For the price you can't beat it.Last week I spent 18 dollars for a room. That was a first!
Read the menu and see if its your thing.
The room is nicer than either Hyatt Place Vegas IMO (subjective of course)
and def quieter with less road noise and better views
The breakfast still somewhat better than those low end commercial limited service buffet's.
Albeit with slim pickings/options
But the breakfast I like in Las Vegas costs more per person than a room @ Rio weekdays if under 40 bucks.
So if one isn't overly fussy the new breakfast is adequate.
If they fix the only issue by offering a dollar credit toward the real menu
they may get me back. But I'm willing to spend more to be satisfied elsewhere.
No charge for parking is brilliant (though they can be slow to take your car
) its less busy than most strip hotels and public areas quite dated @ present
If those things don't bother you its the best deal in Las Vegas for a WOH Globe.
I wouldn't want to be there for a week but a couple of nights its ok I suppose
The lowest quality hotel I would stay at with MGM was Park MGM and while the public areas
are better the room upgrade is better.
Incidentally the hotel management reached out to me privately this week and I brought up this thread.
Will they continue to make improvements who knows? At least they cared that says more than a hundred other hotels
I don't understand the need/obsession to be on the strip its crowded and its easier to go down side roads/rideshare/taxi
and approach where you wish to be on the strip than get on Las Vegas BLVD when it gets really busy.
And then the throngs of visitors
This time of year where temps can be 95 degrees to 110 plus how many really want to walk up and down the strip?
Sun worshipers perhaps

60 nights definately is a problem each year, but this year its on track. But if rates are around 18usd in Oct as they seem tl be now then it will be a non brainer to take the rio, right now the rate seems to be 109 minus resort fee...

Seems like there are rates that dont require one night deposit and those that do (which goes with my experience with other Las Vegas hotels taking one night deposits). I guess it doesnt matter if one cancels 72 hours before arrival.
But is rio like other Vegas properties where they only take the room rate part and exclude the resort fee as part of the deposit?

Renovated 1 bedroom executive suite on the 20th floor Ipanema tower, go straight to 19:45 for room review.
Someone upthread shared a post written in Japanese on Twitter about asking a room with a tub at checkin then got a renovated 1 bedroom suite, well I tried that twice asking for a tub, was told they can only give me a standard room with accessible tub in Ipanema tower or a suite with a tub in non renovated Masquerade tower, well obviously I decline for both, they are really unwilling to give any free upgrades to any 1 bedroom suite they have (I did check availability for those renovated 1 bedroom suite day of arrival on the app, all those renovated 1 bedroom suites are available and not sold out)

2 questions here
- Does Rio post as a Hyatt hotel for the purposes of the cobrand credit card? Feels like it should since it's officially now in WoH, but it doesn't seem to show up as such on my chase app
- Despite being globalists, and despite the renovated rooms being considered base rooms for the purposes of points bookings, the front desk forced a 40/night fee to be upgraded to a renovated room this past weekend. I'm assuming they felt like they could do this since it was EDC weekend and the hotel was very full. That being said, i'm fairly certain this is a violation of WoH T&Cs - would people generally agree? worth a call into hyatt corporate to get this sorted?
