Doesn't matter it is required or not required, all 3 times I stayed at Rio in April, every single time at VIP registration with all 3 different agents, they all offered 4pm late check out before I even ask, you just have to be there to know what's the latest

So this is on the 20th floor ? What room number this was ? Doesn't seems like it at the end of the hallway that press release showed a renovated 2 room suite on the corner and with a tub next to the bed, is this near the elevators ?

20th floor, don't remember the room number but halfway down. Bedroom, living room, bathroom, all huge. The furnishings were all brand new, not luxury but solid. I'm sure it's going to look tired in five years but nice for now. In particular I liked the tall ceilings.

Welp - I did a 3 + 5 night stay on two back-to-back reservations.
Positives: The renovated room is decently sized, although it's hard to find power outlets. Yes, there are two on the lamps on the nightstand, but one of them is used by the room alarm clock.
Valet parking was awesome. While you can't call ahead, the person who receives the ticket is the same person who delivers your car, and the wait is usually less than 5 minutes. This is better than self parking and have to wander through the casino. TIP: if you do need to self-park, the top floor of the garage is where the bridge connects to the casino; alternatively, there is a ground floor parking lot next to the convention center entrance.
The breakfast portion is HUGE - the fact that they had fresh-squeezed OJ was nice. This is the corned beef hash:
The casual food court was decent - I had the ramen. Having a Starbucks that accepts the app is a plus.
The betting minimum is $15 at the tables, and they gave pretty generous comped drinks at the bar if you play the video machines. Also, they give you $8 free play if you sign up for Rio Rewards.
So here are the negatives:
No metal detectors. The security guard was there Friday afternoon/night only.

So here are the negatives:
- For reservation #1, they took the entire amount as a deposit 2 days prior to arrival. They also put a $50/day incidental hold upon check-in.
- Since I arrived around 10pm, the VIP reception was closed. The regular line was about a 10 minute wait. The check-in person noted that they merged the two reservations, did all the credit card tapping and swiping (literally using the mag stripe for the second reservation), and they still marked me as a no-show for the second reservation. Granted, I probably would have figured that out when my key stopped working, but that was also the same day I was leaving, so lesson learned - always check whether a checkout/checkin is required. Luckily, it was only a $40 mistake.
- Nest bath amenities is provided, and it has a sharp eucalyptus scent that reminds me of Super Glue - this may have contributed to why Kacee and others had reported the glue-like smell.
- Either they have a limited window for housekeeping, or you snooze you lose - my room was never cleaned during the first 3 days stay. Call to housekeeping went to an extended hold music line where no one picks up. And even when the housekeeper was cleaning the room across the hall, they did not service my room. Oh, and I found this stain on the top sheet first morning at the bottom of the bed:
- Speaking of telephone - there is only one corded phone on the credenza in the middle of the room. So if you are looking to take advantage of free phone calls from your destination charge, you'll need to stand next to it.

Metal detectors would be a hold over idea from the COVID era bargain room rates/PPP money that was causing a ton of low rent crime and criminal activities resulting from widespread ppp fraud money and rooms that cost pennies even at nice hotels. Eventually hotels had to start implementing security measures like that and/or raising room rates simply to try and thwart riff raff issues. That's all gone these days.

Will be staying here for a night before I move over to Caesars for the weekend. Have gambled occasionally pre covid but not anytime recently. I got a cheapo rate for a Hyatt night and an offer match for some free play so why not? The 4pm checkout will be really nice because Caesars hasn't always had a room ready for me early so I won't have to just pass the time in the casino. Will be nice having Hash House for free breakfast since I usually go to the one at Linq and have to burn my rewards credits.
How is Rio with early checkin? I'll be there around noon most likely and really just want a place to dump my bags before I go hike in the afternoon so they're not sitting in my trunk. Backup is to just use the bell desk but I hate doing that.

Nice blood stains
As a reminder all the West Coast in general is having a resurgence of bed bugs like never before
In hotels like this do your due diligence and inspect fully. Especially in a property where the rooms aren’t likely cleaned or
inspected consistently and the hotel has extremely high occupancy and or room turnover.
My two cents.Keep that thought or ignore it completely!

Be advised, no point in booking anything but a base room at the Rio as a Globalist.
Checked in for a two night stay having paid up for a "high floor, strip view". Was given what turned out to be a low level floor facing away from the strip. I waited for the crowd to clear at check-in and came back, asking to move to my booked room - was told that the booking category is only "a request" and that they were fully sold out; offered to move me for my second night "if something becomes available".
Straight-up revenue management scam. I feel for the FD staff, they don't control any of it, but you can't sell someone on a room with specific features and then put them in something else absent some sort of true-up.
Property is a trash heap; Hyatt points/nights not worth the trade-off versus quality on-strip properties IMO, life is too short. I made a point of staying at MGM properties even when comps were better elsewhere -- no more.
edits: typos made in frustration.
